Anyway, what I want to talk about is Xenoblade 3 – so far, at least – never losing sight of its inner tutorial. It’s a useable graphing calculator made by CommanderRedstone, capable of solving equations and plotting graphs, but in a Minecrafty way. That means each number or mathematical symbol you select, you get it in block form, and you place it within the calculator’s function, er, hole? Then you start graphing and watch as the game generates the result using blocks....

Now, not so much. Alas, when I pick up their journey in chapter six of Asobo’s upcoming sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Amicia is having a particularly terrible time of it. Exactly what is hard to say with five chapters’ worth of context missing from my preview build, but the pack of guards who are hot on the siblings’ trail quickly make it plain: several men died back in that city, and they’re pointing the finger squarely at Amicia’s knife, slingshot and crossbow....

The makers say Miracle World DX has all the original’s levels plus some new ones, all done up with new graphics, sound, and mysterious “gameplay improvements”. A Boss Rush mode is bashed in too. Neatly, it will have to option to switch into a ‘Retro Mode’ recreating the original look whenever you want, a bit like in Halo’s remakes. I appreciate that’s already a lot of dull techy words, so here’s the basics. Both FSR and DLSS aim to improve frames-per-second in games by rendering them below your monitor’s native resolution, then upscaling them to make up the difference in sharpness. Currently, FSR uses spatial upscaling, meaning it only applies its upscaling algorithm to one frame at a time. Temporal upscalers, like DLSS, can compare multiple frames at once, to reconstruct a more finely-detailed image that both more closely resembles native res and can better handle motion....
