Lugaid isn’t the most diligent heir to the throne, according to his father....

To be fair… we do talk about some of those big budget AAA releases in this week’s Headlines & Hot Takes. Now that The Weekspot has someone that’s shown a bit of interest in Elden Ring, it’d be a shame not to chat about those interviews Miyazaki did after E3. We also discuss the recent rumours around Everwild and why it wasn’t present at Microsoft’s big show. And, of course, Tech Corner returns so that we can chat about windows....

So, obviously enough, this week’s Headlines & Hot Takes contains some chatter on whether we’ll see a new Dead Space pop up at EA’s notE3 event. We also get into our thoughts on what a new Dead Space looks like in 2021. We also discuss the rumblings around WB Games Montreal making a new game (that might be Superman-related). And, of course, we give our in-depth analysis on that Windows 11 livestream during Tech Corner....

There wasn’t a trailer for either series, but there were posters for both. Here’s the season three poster: And you’ll also find the Blood Origin poster on Twitter. Season three of The Witcher will apparently loosely follow the events of book two, Time Of Contempt. Blood Origin is a wholly original work, however, and looks to diverge substantially from previously established Witcher lore. That’s probably OK given that it’s set 1200 years before Geralt’s adventures....

In regular CP2077, NPC hovercars are zipping about but V is stuck on the ground with wheeled transport. With Jack Humbert’s Let There Be Flight mod, every car and motorbike (as far as I’ve found, at least) gains the ability to hover. With the press of a button, the wheels are replaced by directional jets, letting V take to the skies and zoom around. I wouldn’t say I’m good at flying under either of the flight models available (hover and drone) but I have very much enjoyed zooming around Night City, picking up a few scrapes and dents along the way....

And guess what? He’s just showed up at the party again. Only he’s still insisting on people calling him “combat evolved”, which really gives away the fact he graduated in 2001. And he’s wearing the same shirt he was wearing in 2011, when Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary showed up to get trashed on jaegerbombs on the Xbox 360. So, yeah, this 19 year old game is looking a bit dated, even with its remaster....

Gunlocked is a vertical-scrolling shmup in the classic arcade style, not a bullet hell. You start with a basic loadout, determined by your pick of pilot, then set about smashing spaceships to grab their XP gems. Each level-up lets you pick a new weapon or ability (or upgrade for a current one) from a random selection of three, helping you blast bigger and deadlier ships as you whoosh towards the final boss....

Then, if you want something a little more modern, the real-time tactical stealth of Desperados 3 is free-to-try for the next three days. Titan Quest is a traditional, mythological hack-and-slasher from the co-creator of Age Of Empires. It had seven-out-of-ten vibes upon its initial release, but after years lying dormant has more recently received new updates and expansions. It’s free to keep from Steam if you grab it any time in the next week....

Back when it was called Frontiers, the third Torchlight game was planned as a free-to-play persistent online game. It will launch on Steam this summer as a buy-to-play game with the option to play online or off. Echtra CEO Max Schaefer explains the thought behind all the changes. Now, Stålberg’s architectural toy already had a lovely, no-frills look when it launched in early access a few months back. But your man’s been tinkering with some new features for his whimsical port towns, including an utterly stunning overhaul to Townscaper’s lighting and shadows. Regular Screenshot Saturday Sundays readers will know that I cannot resist a good sunset, and Townscaper’s are phenomenal - bathing the scene in a deep red while long, stark shadows drag themselves across the isle....

Having now spent a few hours with the final game, I’ve concluded that my mind must’ve been chemically altered by the doner kebab I consumed the night before. You can switch off your gun’s verbal diarrhea through the in-game menu, but what you’ll find behind the brown curtain is a very unimaginative shooter. For a world so colourful and zaney, it’s a shame the FPS side can’t match it. If you dislike Rick & Morty, you will despise High On Life....

Final Fantasy Tactics still isn’t on PC and though I won’t call this the next best thing (there are spiritual successors like Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark for that) it’s still quite neat on its own. Similar to other bot-run channels on Twitch, and specifically modeled after SaltyBet where viewers use fake currency to bet on fighting game matches, there are a ton of chat commands you can use to interact with the tournament....

This isn’t the first instance of a delayed season in The Division 2.
