I instantly fell for its introduction, as I rapidly learned to make my wee jumping spider (the only spider that even unfans might admit can be cute) dance, jump, and then swing around like I’ve wanted in a game since spiderman 2, then create little webby bridges I could connect in endless combinations, then effortlessly climb up and along....

The Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has published a rating for a Ubisoft game called “Immortals Fenyx Rising”. One of the few things we do know about the game maybe formerly known as Gods & Monsters is that it will star a customisable character named Fenyx. Ubisoft also previously said that they planned to rename the game prior to showing off more about it this summer. It turns out, though, that Aspects weren’t originally going to be in the game. PT, in case you’re new here, was a notorious “Playable Teaser” from Konami and Hideo Kojima meant to build up a Silent Hill revival that never came. Harmony is a cute witch with both a cat and yer traditional wand that’s a stick with a star on the end - the kind of job you could unearth from a regional panto prop basket. The wand’s chief (possibly only) ability is dividing the world into equal square portions and then mixing them up. The wisdom of this is not heavily interrogated, nor does it need to be. When Harmony’s cat runs off with the wand, the pair cause chaos across several different themed areas (sometimes accidentally, but often on purpose) to escape from all the people who are now cross at them....

When Alice Bee demoed Unpacking last year, she said it was “a very satisfying and sweet game of Tetris-with-stuff” that was good enough to make you enjoy moving house. It sounds like quite an intimate thing too. On the website, developers Witch Beam (who previously made Assault Android Cactus) explain there’s sort of a story here, but you’re never explicitly told what it is. As you play, you’ll go through eight house moves learning about a character you never see, purely from the stuff they have and the places they live....

Nevertheless, there are occasions when I find myself tackling just such a challenge. And when I do end up puzzling over whichever Burgerlungs Sir Hammerthingy showed up in, or which one had the big yellow robots, I’ve found a foolproof method of getting to the right answer quickly: I think about what room I was in at the time. It seems bizarre, now, that the original Girderloins came out in 2009....

My memories are hazy, but they radiate a sort of chaotic happiness. This is a game where you drive a wedge of a car at blistering speeds around a racetrack and bash into other cars. As you’d expect, the graphics are old and mushy, but I’m fond of the way rocks resemble golden, crinkled Ferrero Rocher packages and debris chips off bumpers in a way that reminds me of those empty crisp packets folded into triangles you’d find in the hands of that one kid in your class....

Post Void is extremely impressive with how it manages to throw just so much at your face in such a short amount of time as each run takes. I’ve played the first level countless times where it feels like I’ve been on a genuine odyssey. Then I find out after I die that I was alive for less than a minute. It’s the opposite of a game like Loop Hero, where I can sit down, blink, and have time skip forward into the future....

Without giving too much away, When The Past Was Around is quite a sad game. It is also never explained why Owl seems to be the only animal-human hybrid creature in all of creation. In the end, though, I think it’s also a very hopeful and optimistic one, as the puzzles you solve and the time you spend with Owl and Eda are all about luxuriating in the objects, rituals and places two people hold dear together....
