In Two Point Campus, you’ll get to choose a theme for the uni you want to build. So far, it looks like there’s a Knight School, as well as more traditional-looking campuses - you know the ones, with all the old pretty buildings that are actually probably not fit to teach students in. This isn’t the first we’ve seen of Two Point Campus. The Microsoft Store leaked the news last week by briefly putting up the game page early for everyone to see....
According to said blog post, the game is being developed by Ubisoft Toronto, who have most recently been responsible for the likes of Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs Legion. If that has you worried that Splinter Cell is suddenly going to be stuffed through Ubisoft’s open world machine, then you needn’t fret, as Toronto do have some history with the series, having made the last entry in the series, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, back in 2013....

A clever viking by the name of “MarcoPogo” has created a Valheim mod called “Surtling Core Overlocking”. It lets you transform any Surtling Cores you’ve got lying around into “Overclock Cores” that can be slotted into your kiln, smelter, or blast furnace to boost their productivity. There are three different types of overclock cores you can bung into your smelters: Speed, Efficiency, and Productivity. And you’ll need to strike a careful balance when doing so, as too much of one without the other could lead to disastrous results....

Valve’s blog post explains that “in the coming months” they plan the following binnings: “For the vast majority of players, nothing will change when these changes are implemented,” Valve claim. “Most machines already support any of the newer technologies necessary. In fact, most players are already benefiting from the newer technologies, whether it’s via larger content sizes, higher frame rates, better graphical fidelity, or cleaner sounding audio. Removing these older technologies will let us streamline our development efforts as well as use the newer features of these APIs to provide an even better Dota experience....
“The launch of Steam Deck will be delayed by two months,” reads the update, which was also emailed to anyone who pre-ordered. “We’re sorry about this—we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.” When announced, Valve said that the Steam Deck would start shipping in December 2021....
Oops. Valve have since deleted and re-uploaded the video with the emulator removed. The icon only appeared in the video for the briefest of moments, but it was spotted by games tweeter Nibel. The emulator in question is Yuzu, an open source Nintendo Switch emulator. Emulation is legal, as long as you own the games and dump them to PC yourself, but it’s still a murky area. Perhaps someone at Valve was just experimenting with their device, or perhaps they just really wanted to play Metroid Fusion....
“Swansong features lots of characters, choices, dialogues, and opportunities to decide how the story plays and our ultimate focus on quality,” Big Bad Wolf posted on Twitter. “With this in mind, we’ve made the difficult decision to delay the launch of Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong from February 2022 to May 2022.” The blood-sucking World Of Darkness RPG was originally supposed to launch this year, before being pushed back into February....
Coming in the update are two new achievements, two characters, a new arcana, a fresh weapon to wield, and more bug fixes. Most interestingly though, Devs poncle have provided a list of cheat codes for Vampire Survivors’ new mode. Along with codes to change into any of the main and secret characters, there’s also some for ghosts, relics and stages. Maybe the choicest unlock is one that spins the UI around for a little while....
In October, ZDNet reported that a ransomware gang known as Egregor claimed to have acquired the source code for Legion, as well as resources and documents from Crytek. Ransomware attacks often encrypt data and systems they find, threatening to cut off access if they’re not paid to release their hold. This group, Egregor claimed they had encrypted what they found at Crytek, though initially said they had neither locked up Ubisoft’s data nor officially requested a ransom....
Minecraft Dungeons isn’t out until tomorrow, but RPS reviews man Nate has already called it some good, simple fun in his Minecraft Dungeons review. “Minecraft Dungeons is really fun! It’s a charming, lively little looter-bruter, with all Minecraft’s aesthetic elements, but absolutely nothing in common with it beyond that,” says Nate. He seems to have found it a fun romp, if a bit short and shallow. Dungeons doesn’t get deep into RPG stats, opting instead for familiarly Minecraft-y armor and enchantments....
Case in point: Supergiant Games have just announced a 10th Anniversary Orchestral Collection featuring arrangements from Bastion, Transistor, Pyre and Hades. It’s exactly my kind of thing. I love a good orchestral arrangement. But there’s one problem. It’s only on vinyl.
To me, The Witcher 3 is the clear place to start for someone who’s coming to the games 12 years late. I do still like 1 & 2 and would recommend them to some, but the first is quite archaic in ways many would find off-putting then the plot of the second builds too heavily on the first to have skipped it. The Witcher 3 is something of a fresh starting point, not a clean slate but one where history is more in the background....

If endgame World Of Warcraft is a demanding hobby these days, Classic may as well be a full-time job. Naturally, this leaves plenty of players looking for ways to skip the grind. A report from Wired suggests that, for the last few months, end-game zones have been swarming with “clusters of bot-driven accounts”, rotating through valuable monster locations with a brutal efficiency. Besides robbing human players of valuable loot, it’s also had a destabilising effect on the in-game economy - pumping artificially-earned gold into the world, flooding markets with copious amounts of supposedly “rare” items....
You can now preload the Battlefield 2042 open beta client on Steam (you’ll need to click the Request Access button, but it’ll be granted instantly), Origin (click the Try It First button then look for the beta client in your library), and the Epic Games Store. The download size, for me on Steam, is 19GB. And it’s on Xbox and PlayStation too, obvs. The beta offers Conquest mode on one map, Orbital, the rocket launch site seen in the first trailer....
The balancing of all that didn’t quite work for me, but I’m generally fairly averse to puzzle games and demanding platformers, so you ought not to count that against it. If you’re more the type to take apart a puzzle step by step than to wing it while your subconscious yells from the sidelines, this could even be a real gem.
Hearthstone’s Year Of The Dragon, currently coming to a close, was pretty good. Blizzard pulled off their plan to link together three updates in a narrative sequence, and in the process knocked out not just three card sets that dragged the meta away from the polarised monotony it had been stuck in, but three single player expansions that had a lot of sticking power (even if they still weren’t as good as the Kobolds & Catacombs dungeon run)....
