£249 is a fantastic price for the Oculus Quest 2. Not only is it a great wireless VR headset in its own right, but it also lets you play all the best PC VR games as well via a USB cable and its Oculus Link technology. It’s the best of both worlds. Yes, it does require you to have a Facebook / Meta account in order to use it, but given the lack of deals on Valve’s superior Index headset these days, the Quest 2 is a much better option for wired and wireless VR right now than any of HTC’s Vive headsets....
Othercide is a tactics game that I’ve seen on posters at numerous games gatherings, but only got to play days before release. Not normally a good sign; people don’t hide things away because they’re too good. Having now explored its monochrome murderscapes I’m not sure why it wasn’t more heralded: I have issues with some wonky roguelite elements, sure, but there’s plenty of novelty to celebrate here, too. Forbidden Sanctum throws your character into the foreboding depths of its titular dungeons, challenging them to survive runs as best they can across four floors. Your character can succumb to minor and major afflictions by entering these rooms, but they can be balanced out or counteracted by finding boons of varying strengths....
It’s completely motionless, seemingly frozen in the act of bursting out of the crate that contains it, and there is absolutely no explanation for it to be found in its immediate environment. There is of course an explanation for this bizarre apparition, which can be pieced together from information found in a side quest, but I’m not going to spoil it. To be honest, I long for the time before I unravelled its mystery....
