The Glaivier features two skill sets, Focus and Flurry, linked to one of the ridiculously huge pointy sticks she wields: spear for fast attacks in Focus and glaive for sweeping hits in Flurry. Smilegate say a successful Glaivier can maximise their effectiveness by building up energy with one skill set for a stat boost when swapping to the other....

Here’s the trailer: Chatter with Hangar 13 during today’s PC Gaming Show mentioned that the story was mostly the same as before, charting Tommy Angelo’s rise up through a crime family and eventual escape. Lots of the rest of it has been tweaked and modernised, from city streets that are newly busy with pedestrians to cars that take advantage of modern advances in wobbling more when it’s rainy out. I loved the original game back in 2002, and it was on every top ten list I made for 5-10 years afterwards....

In a shareholders letter, Netflix confirm what we heard last week about their plans to pack games in with all their usual programming. “We view gaming as another new content category for us, similar to our expansion into original films, animation and unscripted TV,” they say. “Games will be included in members’ Netflix subscription at no additional cost similar to films and series.” What kind of games though? Barring any catastrophic eventualities where this game actually ends up being just a load of bugs propping up other bugs in a fluorescent trenchcoat, I feel almost 100% confident in saying to you that this will be an enjoyable product when it comes out. But I also should be honest and say that the gameplay I saw has congealed into the same kind of sticky morass and blurred whirling lights in my memory as my first all-night benders....

To be fair, it’s not all bad. Some of it is great even, but I’ve jumped between loving and hating so many different bits over my last week with the PC beta that ultimately I’m just sad. Spacemen will be able to form cross-platform parties in-game or up-front. Folks from other systems will also appear in the “ambient” multiplayer, encountered on the Space Anomaly, amongst the stars, or planetside, same as usual.
