So, for this edition of Mystery Steam Reviews, both myself and Matthew had to choose three games that were once in Steam Early Access, but have since properly launched. Given that a lot of Early Access games are survival and management games – two genres that myself and Matthew aren’t all that great on – I wasn’t expecting much. Have a watch and see how we did. “The first batch of character and weapons cosmetics are now available in the Armoury Exchange. Expect a small variety of items (e.g., upper and lower body, head slots, and weapons) with access to more items growing as a player’s level progresses,” says the post announcing the changes. It’s an interesting way of capturing the passage of time, and in Wayward Strand how you choose to spend that time is pretty important in a game that makes a point of not waiting for you. In Wayward Strand you play as fourteen-year-old Casey who is spending the tail-end of her summer holidays at her mum’s workplace - an airborne hospital tethered to the shores of their small town in Australia....

Still, talk of a new saga has got me thinking. Does that mean we’ll simply see a new protagonist in the existing Witcher timeline we know and love? (Ciri, perhaps, or young hot Vesemir?) Or will it go earlier, maybe tying into the upcoming Netflix prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin that’s set 1200 years before the events of the books? Or something else entirely? They now plan to release the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2022 by the end of March, with The Witcher 3’s update following sometime from April to the end of June. When CDPR announced The Witcher 3’s next-gen upgrade in September 2020, they said it “will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content....

Immortal Empires was introduced to Total War: Warhammer 3 for single-player and multiplayer back in August, supporting up to eight players for the latter. This mode brought in boatloads of stuff from the first two games in the series, set across a huge campaign and gigantic map. If the host owns all three games, that is. With the 2.3.0 update, an Immortal Empires host can choose which endgame scenarios they want to trigger, and when, or just switch them off....

She’s created a version of Truman’s neighbourhood from the movie, so your Sims, too, can wish their neighbours good afternoon, good evening and good night. And, even more impressively, there are two versions of it. One is the street from, as it were, Truman’s point of view at the start of the movie - a suburban paradise. The second is when the scales have fallen from his eyes. The lot is bordered with big movie set surrounds, a light has crashed onto the set, and we even have the iconic steps and door for your tiny Trumans to make their own escape....

We always like to keep our Zoo Warlock guide up to date as well because it is such a great deck to play for beginners. Not only is it often relatively cheap to put together in terms of dust (the Legendaries are optional), but it also goes a long way to teach you many of the fundamentals of playing Hearthstone well. Starting as tiny Flash games, both Samorost and its newly-updated sequel predate this site by a good few years. Considering their age, this week’s update is a welcome one, helping Samorost 2 feel more at home in 2020. Arriving as part of the game’s 15th anniversary, Samorost 2 has been updated to support widescreen resolutions. Visual assets have been upscaled in kind, with the devs using a “custom trained AI” to increase the fidelity....

Here’s an announcement trailer from this past week’s Japanese Nintendo Direct: Those graphics are all new, which should be obvious given it doesn’t look like a PSone game. It does seem to otherwise hew close to the original though, keeping its camera perspective and combat style rather than that of the modern iterations such as Atelier Ryza. Despite Atelier Marie seemingly being released in 1997, Koei Tecmo are still running a series of Atelier 25th anniversary events....

There aren’t many details to go on yet. All we know is that you’ll have to battle to survive in a post-apocalyptic open world. The game will be set sometime between Judgment Day, which people familiar with the franchise will know moves around more frequently than Easter weekend, and the start of heroic everyman John Connor’s resistance. Please let us be Terminators, Nacon. Nacon say their Terminator game will feature an original story that’s grounded in what you’ll have seen in the movies....

The Freedom Wing Adaptor was developed in collaboration with assistive hardware specialists ATMakers. Working closely with Spohn, ATM Co-founder Bill Blinko quickly found that using a wheelchair joystick made a hell of a lotta sense as a videogame controller. “People have already positioned these on their chairs, they have the muscle memory of being able to use them,” Blinko explains. “Turns out, it’s a really great way to get gaming to someone who uses a power chair....

Today kicks off the second season with the Age Of Discovery event. There’s a fair few time-limited tasks to complete that unlock profile portraits and coats of arms if you manage them. I like the scarlet macaw, so I’ll have to progress through every Age in a multiplayer match to nab that one. Ranked seasons are back too, with sea-monster themed rewards to boot, but you’ll have to wait until July 14th for the ladder to be reset for that....
