Today’s update effectively brings two hammers down on Fall Guys’ wobbling bean-folk - a well-deserved banhammer for the cheats, and Timmy Mallett’s ghostly gavel for everyone else. Today’s update doesn’t add any new rounds, but it has brought a few twists to familiar stages. Gauntlets like See Saw and Hit Parade may now arrive with new barriers, rotated platforms, and bowls of fruit tipped over the course. A few other games have been given smaller changes - notably, lowering the minimum player cap for certain rounds and reducing the length of time you’ll be stuck in the rubbish football game....

Which is a pain, because these turrets restrict your airspace and hinder your movement across Yara. It’s important to destroy these turrets so that they don’t shoot you down whenever you fly within half a kilometre of them in a helicopter, plane, or other flying vehicle. Fortunately, you can destroy Anti-Aircraft Cannons by using explosives or weapons which deal Blast damage....

We’ve already gotten a good look at Yara’s dictator Antón Castillo in the first reveal trailer for Far Cry 6. Today we get a look at the guerrilla fighters. Ex-military member Dani Rojas just wants to get the heck out of Yara without dealing with the revolution, Ubisoft say. No points for guessing that Dani is going to wind up getting involved anyway. Specifically, involved with a rag-tag group of guerrilla revolutionaries....

I am truly sorry.” To cut a long story short, sounds like they were running to a tight schedule which proved a little too tight, so they started eating into time needed for testing and as a result it has unresolved stability problems....

An update yesterday also added Steam trading cards, as well as giving you the option to flick between classic and premium graphics. Here’s the update page, where they also mention they’re hiring content creator “SalfordSal” to help manage their community and do some streaming. It’s not a huge update, but I can see people getting a kick out of peeking at the impenetrable ASCII versions of their fortresses. There are some bug fixes and minor graphics updates, too....

A fortnight (hah!) after announcing Fortnite’s spit-shined new looks, Epic’s battle royale now supports RTX ray tracing and DLSS 2.0 - assuming you’ve got the cards for ’em. I’ll be frank. When I think about games that’d benefit from expensive, real-time ray tracing, Fortnite isn’t high on the list. But while you can miss me with tiny reflections on helmets and gun scopes, it does look quite stunning when once-flat glass facades become building-sized mirrors....

Fortnite’s Love And War event will run from today, Febrary 5th, through the 17th. It adds a new game mode called Search And Destroy, a community-made mode. I guess it’s no surprise that fans have cooked this one up as my first thought when reading the rules was “wait, that’s Counter-Strike, innit?” Basically, yeah. Epic call it “a classic Attack and Defend game… Fortnite-ified.” Teams of six will face off in up to 11 rounds to grab a victory by either destroying the bomb site as attackers, defending it as defenders, or by eliminating the opposing team of 6....

As reported by VGC, senior producer Tom Butcher spoke in the above video about how monthly updates for Forza Horizon 4 would in future recycle content from previous updates. “Starting with Series update 38, players who know the game well will start to see the return of content from Series 7 to 32,” said Butcher. “Think of it a bit like a mix tape, featuring the return of some of your favourite content combined with recently added new features....

Three weeks ago, I speculated that the little white symbol on Frictional’s site looked a bit like a neuron. Only a few days later, you lot noticed that it had changed into something new. An embryo, maybe? Now it’s—well I’m not sure what really—but it’s changed again and more importantly there’s a new button on the page next to Frictional’s social media links. Over on Resetera, user “Foxnull,” shares that while clicking the Egyptian-looking eye symbol doesn’t seem to do anything, hovering over it shows text that is the proper length for a YouTube video code....

If you’re unfamiliar with Galactic Civilizations III, it’s a 4X strategy game in which you explore an enormous galaxy, bump into alien races, navigate tense negotiations, start a few wars, and research new technologies. All with the aim of transforming your budding civilisation into a planet-conquering powerhouse. Galaxy Civilizations III has been out for quite a while now, but it still sounds like a solid experience for those who want a sci-fi 4X with plenty of lasting decisions to make....

Probably not, no, but we’ll know for sure when the Version 3.3 update lands on December 7th. There’s also a new quest that takes place after the game’s main storyline, a couple new playable characters, and a Breakout mini-game. Ah. I do actually quite like Breakout. I’ve got very little idea what was going on in the first half of that, but I did enjoy the extended shots of Faruzan the enigmatic machinist wailing on a mushroom....

The process is simple enough. Just load up the GOG Galaxy 2.0 client (if you’re still labouring away on 1.6 as I was, you’ll need an update) and then link the account where your current version of The Witcher 3 lives. Once the account is linked, find it in your games library and press the ‘claim’ button. Both disc and digital copies are eligible, so there’s nothing stopping you borrowing a PS4 or Xbox One copy – except honesty and that whole worldwide pandemic thing, of course....

There are always nice savings to be had among Black Friday’s gaming keyboard deals, but even then, the only way you’d normally see a mech board this cheap was if it was secondhand. And had keycaps missing. And was haunted, possibly by some kind of dismembered hand ghost. UK deals: I had mixed feelings about the SK652’s predecessor, the Cooler Master SK650, so it was a welcome sight when Cooler Master ditched the flat keycaps in favour of more comfortable concaved ones....

That’s a stonking deal for the specs on offer, considering that even older 4K 120Hz monitors without HDMI 2.1 have typically retailed for $700 or more - and the very few HDMI 2.1 alternatives available so far, like the LG 27GP950, have all cost $900 or more when they’ve even been in stock....

Get the Gigabyte M27Q for $290 (was $360) First up, the M27Q has received a boatload of positive reviews, although sadly not yet from RPS. The monitor follows in the footsteps of other Fast IPS monitors like the LG 27GL850 and Dell S2721DGFA, blending the fast response times typical of TN panels with the wide viewing angles and great colour reproduction of IPS screens. This makes for a winning combination that works well across a wide range of games, from slow and cinematic to competitive and fast-paced, and also make it a good monitor for getting work done....

We saw The Callisto Protocol’s first tiny bit of gameplay the other day, which looked quite Dead Space-y, right? A rugged lad, the shooting of monster limbs, the dark tunnels filled with monsters who see your eyeballs as a delicacy. All very Dead Space - Space but Dead. It’s perhaps unsurprising, considering Glen Schofield’s past, but he’s quick to separate the two - albeit conceding that, yes, if you’re a fan of Dead Space, you’ll probably like The Callisto Protocol....

A couple of weeks ago, Ubi revealed they’d renamed the game to Immortals Fenyx Rising, citing creative reasons for the switch. That doesn’t seem to be the whole story, however, because the name change came shortly after this legal challenge was filed. In the opposition documents from April (spotted by TechRaptor), Monster pointed out how heavily their branding is involved in the games industry. Their logo is plastered on gaming clothes and seen sponsoring esports events - not to mention the energy drinks themselves are actually in video games like Death Stranding - and they claim that Ubisoft’s similar name could cause confusion....

Unofficial Valve voyeur SteamDB reports that Steam broke through its previous online user record yesterday with a peak count of 20,313,451. SteamDB pulls from Steam’s own figures which actually reported just a hair higher for yesterday at 20,313,476. The previous record was over 18 million online users back in January 2018. That’s also the date that still holds Steam’s record for most players actually in game at a time. Yesterday’s big boost saw over 6 million players in game compared with the 7 million plus record from 2018....
