Stripe isn’t the only Gremlins character to come to MultiVersus. Cute mogwai Gizmo rocked up in the fighting game last month, along with his classic Barbie corvette car from the movies. There’s just one more character revealed for MultiVersus season one so far who’s yet to make it into the game, and that’s the DC Universe’s magical anti-hero Black Adam. Adam was announced by devs Player First Games at the same time as Stripe back in August, but only has a few weeks to show up until the season ends on November 15th....

This year’s publicly voted for crop (as with most year’s crops) was heavy on mods for old-school shooters, though mostly not too old-school for me to skip them. Second place was won by impressive S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call Of Pripyat overhaul Anomaly, while first place went to Half-Life 2 mod Entropy: Zero 2. Check ’em out below, along with the runner ups. If it looks a little old for a remake, that’ll be because Anniversary was first revamped for Xbox 360 in 2011. Microsoft say the PC release “looks and plays better than ever at 60 frames-per-second (or greater) with 4K UHD support, and players can fine-tune their experience with a vast array of options including variable framerate, native mouse/keyboard support and the ability to rebind controls, support for ultra-wide displays and different aspect rations, updated texture/shadow quality and more....

Here’s a trailer showing off some of its systems and abilities: The Hard West games combine six-shooters with the supernatural. In Hard West 2, you’ve apparently made the appallingly poor decision to rob a ghost train, leading to your souls being ripped from you. You’re on a quest to get them back by travelling across an overworld map, and by having multiple-choice story encounters and turn-based shootouts. The abilities showcased by the video above all look fun to me....

Definitely not one on the level of Action Man: Raid On Island X at least. It was the absolute business. Memories are hazy, but I think Island X was the home of Dr X, Action Man’s arch-nemesis. He had a robotic arm, purple trousers, and looked like he road a loud Harley Davidson in an aggressive manner. In Raid On Island X, you’d infilitrate his island and foil his masterplan - whatever that was....

TAOB&R:CM, to use an abbreviation that looks like broken HTML, was a farce. As its name suggested, you would use it to create cartoons in the style of B:TAS, slapping down moody backdrops, and then moving characters with looping movement animations across them, before plopping down props, sound effects and text. The game would record the order of all of this, and then play it back on command, like a puppet show with the puppeteer’s hands removed from view....

Looking back on it now, CS:GO is an FPS that I took for granted. I used to play it semi-seriously, warming up my aim like some wannabe professional in an attempt to climb the ranks. I’d watch videos on how to chuck grenades at certain angles to block an enemy’s vision from very specific points. Whenever the esports tournaments were on, I’d tune in and support my favourite teams, or absorb some of the tactics they employed....

It’s this early version of the internet that Hypnospace Outlaw captures down to the pixel, only here you surf the web while you sleep via a special headband. Part museum piece, part detective thriller, it’s a wonderful reminder of happier times when all you had to worry about were turds called Zane and making sure your virtual hamster doesn’t die of loneliness while you solve online crimes. In Hypnospace Outlaw, you play as an enforcer who’s been brought in to make sure the denizens of Hypnospace play by the rules....

Over time, Gary’s world and the RPG world start to blend. Conversations Gary has at work play into his experiences in Legend Of The Spear, until even the small garden growing out the back of his Mum’s house starts to play a role. As the story unfolds you’ll see the lengths to which Gary will go to make his ordinary existence less mundane. It’s a rather touching tale about how games can offer much-needed escapism, but how ultimately, they cannot stand in for real-life relationships....

Then there’s Life Is Strange 2: the awkward middle child. Still very recognisably a member of the family, but the one that stands out in all the photos because he’s just a bit gawky. He’s experimented a lot with his storytelling and plotline in an attempt to make himself stand out, and it’s only sort-of worked. His romantic subplots are underdeveloped, his villains are one-dimensional, and his attempt at tackling a Very Serious Issue has grown in all crooked....

Star Trek Online is marinated in the culture that’s built up around the franchise over the past five decades, and you feel like you’re beamed into an episode when you start to play it. You can stick to regions of space familiar to Captains Kirk, Picard, and Archer, or put your hair in a Janeway bun and head out to the Delta Quadrant. The game wraps itself fully in the design language of Star Trek, from the style of designer Michael Okuda’s ‘okudagrams’ for elements of the menus to the familiar ships you can take to maximum warp....

Told completely without text or dialogue, this narrative-led sidescroller follows the lives of five different anthropormorphic animals as they go about their daily lives. In fact, the only words you’ll hear during the course of The Longest Road On Earth are the lyrics of 20 mournful songs that act as a emotive backdrop to these short, sharp snapshots. It’s the kind of device that lets you tell your own kind of story, giving you room to imagine what might be going through their minds, or how they might be feeling as they glance at telephones, wheel carefree down a hill on their bike, or sit glumly in a subway carriage, nervously checking their toolbox is still where they left it beneath their feet....

I’ll try to elaborate. Imagine a Christmas dinner. You’ve got your turkey at the middle of it all, this massive bird made small by its flavour, and in this metaphor, that’s the management sim at the heart of JWE. Not bad, by any means, but anyone who’s being honest would rather have a chicken, or a nut roast, or what have you. But then you’ve got “all the trimmings”, right?...

There’s some truly impressive physics-defying right here, so let’s rate some of the best ship flips out of 10, shall we? Now, the best flying ship clips have a good amount of boat airtime, at least a couple of flips, and a good amount of distance from the ship’s original position. Bonus points if a pirate is onboard and gets launched with it. We’ll start off with a little mishap that my very own crew and I experienced firsthand....

The Bart Bonte Collection has a good chunk of old Flash brain ticklers you may have played way back in the day. Sugar Sugar up there (technically styled “Sugar, Sugar”) is a physics-y puzzler about drawing lines to funnel a bunch of falling sugar into different cups. After the gilt of the first location revealed, Dubai, Ian is coming back down to murk and mire with a trip to Dartmoor - though Thornbridge Manor is fancier than any part of Devon I’ve known. It is a missed opportunity to reprise Hitman: Blood Money’s Mardi Gras level down Union Street in Plymouth during Freshers’ Week. Still, I love a good murder mystery, and perhaps I’ll be even able to engineer a situation whereby my target is kicked to death by a wee Dartmoor pony....

Hitman 3 can import your item unlocks, Mastery Levels, XP, and such carried over from the first two games. But the website which runs this got slammed, hard, as we reported yesterday. You could play Hitman 3 without importing your previous progress straight away, but then your Hitman 3 progress would be wiped when you did get around to importing. So would you wait to start playing, or start straight away then lose that progress?...
