The Delicious Last Course was first announced in June 2018, so fans of Cuphead have been waiting for some time to play it. It was meant to be out in 2019, then pushed to 2020 to maintain its quality, then pushed further to 2021 because of COVID-19, and now it’s here. Developers Studio MDHR say the expansion contains the “biggest and wildest boss battles” they’ve ever created. Studio MDHR pushed out a small patch, or ‘cupdate’ as they call it, yesterday to ready the game for the new DLC....

Look, I understand that once you get into the game you don’t wanna leave because you’ll have to wait ages again, but if lots of people are AFK that only makes the queue worse! Be the change you want to see in New World. From what I’ve seen, things are starting to ease up though, with queues are mostly at their worst during peak times in the evenings and at the weekend now....

The groups hold shares in Activision Blizzard and are claiming the company’s board of directors affected the company’s value in their handling of the sale to Microsoft. Last week, an overwhelming majority of shareholders voted to approve Microsoft’s $68.7 billion (£50 billion) offer to purchase Activision Blizzard. Still, it now looks like not everyone involved is happy with that price. The shareholder groups have been seeking access to Activision Blizzard’s records since the autumn – prior to the deal with Microsoft – to investigate whether Kotick was aware of misconduct at the company....

While we’ve not got a confirmed release date, the Halo TV series is coming to Paramount+ sometime next year. This is after almost eight years in development, with word of its existence first surfacing in 2018, so I can’t help but see its arrival as a minor miracle. In the trailer, it seems like Dr. Halsey (Natascha McElhone) narrates affairs, alluding to John Halo (Pablo Schreiber) as the chunky space-saviour we know and love, with lines like “we’re lost in the dark” teeing up “but you give people hope” nicely....

More importantly though, it’s generally a good idea to replace your thermal paste every few years, so if your system hasn’t been touched since you built it ages ago, then it’s worth checking your CPU temps to make sure you’re still happy with them - and if not, a quick repaste should sort you out for another year or five!...

Indiana Jones is a well-known klutz. Where other action movie protagonists are suave, calm in the face of pressure, and preternaturally skilled, Indy is the ball in Rube Goldberg device. He triggers traps, mis-judges distances, wins fights through dumb luck, and generally makes a mess and runs away. This is what makes him lovable. And yet none of these traits are a natural fit for a videogame protagonist, but I’m begging this game’s developers: please find a way....

The larger reason I struggled to get into Plebby Quest, however, is that it has one of the most unappealing art styles I’ve come across in some time. Every character in Plebby Quest looks like they took a walk through a scrapyard and accidentally fell into the car-crusher, emerging as a deformed flesh-cube. While I appreciate the attempt to make a grand strategy game that doesn’t look like it was created by an accountancy firm, I found Plebby Quest’s human dominoes actively disturbing to look at, and it was a while before I could see past them....

Odyssey is the biggest sideways step Elite Dangerous has taken, essentially embedding a first-person shooter inside its already-operating space sim, like some chocolate truffle of genre. The alpha has problems, especially when it comes to the planetside battlefields, but ultimately I cannot knock the ambition of this update. Especially when it offers the one thing I’ve been itching to do since this spacey meatball came out six years ago: the ability to clamber out of your ship and kick the landing gears....

Arkane’s Prey is a bananas alternate timeline immersive sim from 2017 where JFK dodging the magic bullet results in some significant changes to the Space Race. Creepy morphing aliens called the Typhon have escaped containment in orbit around the Moon and, notably, you can turn into a cup among the other items lying around the game’s Talos I space station. It’s been on Game Pass for a while, but if you want to own it forever, then now’s the time to do it....

Here’s a trailer which introduces some of the calamities: The prisons you construct are a house of cards, and these disasters can topple them like dominos - checkmate! Lightning can strike guards and inmates, knocking them unconscious, or cause structural damage that leads to flooding. If one of these fates should befall you, you can call in pest control, plumbers, repairmen and so on for assistance. It’s better if you plan for these potential disasters in advance, however....

Hailing from Norway, Ace has a water-powered gadget named S.E.L.M.A. which punches holes in surfaces. Thrown at a floor it’ll knock out one panel, but on walls it will roll down to blow out up to three panels. South Africa’s Melusi can stick up Banshee Sonic Defence gadgets, which are proxomity-activated to make a terrible throbbing noise which slows enemies and let you know they’re around. The Banshee is not invulnerable but is bulletproof so it’ll take some work to destroy....

The few glimpses we’ve had of Project L before looked similar to Street Fighter V. It had a big focus on controlling spacing on the ground, and many of the special attacks we saw were designed around interrupting players while they were approaching. This is a very punishing style of gameplay for newcomers, since it has very little feedback on exactly why you were hit. It’s not exactly clear how to improve with every loss....

Psyonix have published the patch notes for today’s update that detail all the changes coming to the game with the switch to the free download model. One biggie is that you can no longer buy the game on Steam, though you can still play it if you already own it. Instead, you’ll be able to download it free over on the Epic Store. You’ll now be able to share account progress between Steam, Epic, and console versions as well by linking an Epic Games account....

Rocksmith is less a game, and more a piece of software that’ll teach you how to play guitar and bass. You connect your instrument to your PC or console using a jack, or just sign in to an app on your phone that’ll listen to you play, and see feedback on the screen as you jam out to various songs. It’s like Guitar Hero, except it actually teaches you something....

I say ostensible because, in reality, golf is everywhere. Our heroine Aerin’s hometown is called Mulligandale. It has two shops, one of them dedicated entirely to golf. Folk shimmy about in golfwear, talking about golf. Many give out golf-related quests, the rewards for which are usually some form of golfing paraphernalia, often golf balls. The actual golf courses themselves have been sealed off by an ill-defined big villainous, but if you put a translucent barrier around the thing you’re trying to crush and still let the people you’re attempting to terrorise build their entire society as a monument to it, you’re basically asking for a plucky hero to restore the national passtime to glory....

In the first part of the developer update below, executive producer Joe Neate explains just a bit about the new quests Rare will be sending players on. Rare have previously added easter eggs to Sea Of Thieves referencing the exploits of well-known players. In the past, these homages have just been neat things for other pirates to stumble upon: paintings, carvings in wood, and other environmental oddities. Now, Rare will be adding an NPC to the game named Umbra who will send you off to look for these special additions....
