The event starts today and runs until February 23rd, with the returning game mode, Locked And Loaded, replacing the normal battle royale mode for the duration. Rather than dropping into Apex’s arena with nothing but the clothes on your back, you’ll instead be kitted out with a white shield, helmet, backpack and knockdown shield, as well as Mozambique complete with a white shotgun bolt and HCOG classic scope. You’ll also have one stack of shotty ammo, two shield cells and two syringes....

The new Crash Site can be found to the north of Kings Canyon, just above Artillery. There, you’ll find the downed airship surrounded by some lightly smoldered ground and scaffolding, which can be used to get the high ground on your enemies. Across the map you’ll see some new structures too - observation towers will allow players to get up high to give themselves a lay of the land, while explosive holds are new loot containers that can only be accessed by lobbing a grenade at them....

“During the event rotation only one armor type will be available, and players will drop into the match with it already equipped,” Respawn explain in their announcement. “Players will also drop with a P2020. All armor will be removed from the loot pool, but shield cells and batteries, as well as all the other sweet, sweet loot, will still be available (just not armor).” The Battle Armor event will start out with everyone in white level 1 armor when it begins next Tuesday but will bump up to new armor ratings every several days....

Epic added the Itch app to their store in April (along with a handful of other non-games apps like Spotify and internet browser Brave). Epic don’t review the games that are put onto Itch.io because it’s a third-party app, and, as Epic mentioned during the trial, Itch have their own moderation systems. Happily, I can report that Ubisoft’s official PC requirements for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are very much on the conservative side. I’ve been testing the game with one of their recommended 6GB GTX 1060 cards for the past couple of days, and it’s capable of doing a lot more than their estimate of 30fps on High at 1080p. It can’t quite get to a steady 60fps, all told, but it can with a few tweaks in its extensive graphics menu....

Your aim is to complete the sequence in the fastest time possible, which is hard when you’re still trying to comprehend that keyboards can indeed be lifted from a desk. The big difference is that Back Scratching Simulator 2023 is co-op. You hold the keyboard on your pal’s back and hide behind them so you can’t see the screen....

It then very rapidly dropped back down to 11,675 by 9pm that day. Until very early last Saturday morning, when numbers rose again to 23,637 at midnight, player counts didn’t rise higher than 8,737 on June 15th at 8pm BST. Player counts peaked again at 30,042 at 10am BST on Saturday, and then fell more steadily over the past few days to hover around 11,000....
