Netflix Reportedly Want To Expand Into Games

According to The Information (warning: there’s a pricey paywall), Netflix have approached a number of “veteran game industry executives” about joining the company. The report says Netflix are exploring launching an Apple Arcade-style bundle of games, with no ads. For context, Apple Arcade is basically an iOS version of subscription services like Xbox Game Pass. A Netflix rep told Polygon that the company is “excited to do more with interactive entertainment”, as well as some marketing talk about how their users “enjoy engaging more directly with the stories they love”....

Netflix S Witcher Now Has A Making Of Documentary

Speaking of witching, CD Projekt Red announced a new mobile game today, The Witcher: Monster Slayer. It sounds a bit like Pokémon Go with Witcher monsters. “My initial interest in The Witcher came from a chance experience with the Witcher games,” Cavill explains in the doc. “Then I heard that Netflix were making a show, and so I hunted down the opportunity to play Geralt, and when I had my first meeting with Lauren [Schmidt Hissrich, the showrunner], she had mentioned it was based on the books....

New Agatha Christie Game Stars A Young Hercule Poirot Who Is Unnecessarily Hot

The First Cases, due out in late September, is published by Microids and developed by Blazing Griffn (whom you may remember for buying and remastering multiplayer subterfuge game The Ship). In it you play as Hercule Poirot, untangling one of his first ever cases as a young detective in pre-war Belgium. It involves the rich Van den Bosch family celebrating an engagement, trapped by a snow storm at their manor....

New World Players Are Crawling Around Terrifying Onlookers

Not every player has been doing this of course, but I’ve seen more than enough clips online of folks crawling like fleshy crabs among crowds of terrified onlookers. Perhaps this is the effect of the queues. Their brains have turned to mush, unable to comprehend that they’re finally in-game. They could be doing quests! Fighting beasts! But no. Or maybe this is what they wanted to play New World for in the first place....

New World S First Expansion Brimstone Sands Promises An Early Game Revamp

But I fell off the game not long into its release, and earlier than I did other MMOs. Ultimately, I struggled to find the time to grind out the levels required to participate in the cool PVE or PVP stuff, as the level gate is less generous than my past flames Final Fantasy XIV or World Of Warcraft. It’s a shame, as I like New World’s vibes-based levelling as a whole, which gives you XP for cracking on with whatever takes your fancy, be that killing things or doing carpentry....

Nexus Mods Has Banned Political Mods Thanks To Trolls

“Most of these mods are being uploaded by cowards with sock puppet accounts deliberately to try and cause a stir,” the site’s admins say. So if people can’t behave, they’ll allow no US politics on the Nexus until the presidential election is well and truly settled. “Recently we have seen a spate of provocative and troll mods being uploaded based around current sociopolitical issues in the United States,” Nexus owner “Dark0ne” explained in Thursday’s announcement....

Nightwing Really Wants To Drop On Top Of You In New Gotham Knights Trailer

We already saw a bit of Nightwing when Gotham Knights last swooped down from the rooftops last month, along with another fellow former Robin: the Red Hood. I’m a bit disappointed there wasn’t something about the other two squires of Batman set to feature in the game, Batgirl and Tim Drake’s Robin. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of them in the months before Gotham Knights is released. At least Warner Bros....

Noita Leaves Early Access This October

Unfortunately, Nolla’s announcement is pretty vague on the details of exactly what to expect from the update. As a matter of fact, that list above is pretty much exactly how they describe what’s coming. Even more vaguely, they tease “other surprises” too, hinting that there might be a new game mode to boot. Something there is a little more explanation of is the game’s upcoming Twitch integration, which will allow streamers to have their viewers vote on in-game events for “creative surprises”....

Our Eight Favourite Games From Not E3 2022

Overwatch Has Ditched Hero Pools For Lower Ranked Players

“Competitive play at lower skill tiers already sees a tremendous amount of hero composition diversity in their matches, and we don’t think they need a system like hero pools to encourage even more,” the devs say. As someone who recently ranked in Platinum, this is a pretty welcome change. Players at my rank (myself included) struggle to counter a lot of heroes as is without a bunch of them getting banned every week....
