Each of the three studios is committed to a particular Paradox series, but notably Imperator: Rome isn’t among them. Also notable: one of them is making a new game which will be announced next month. The post explains that the three studios are referred to internally as PDS Green, PDS Red and PDS Gold. Each studio is dedicated to maintaining existing games and to developing new ones, with one new game to be announced at PDXCON, the company’s fan event, next month....

Before long though, the sludge around the rim of the arena starts to close in. You can stick to the high ground for a while, but eventually, you will be overcome and drown in the sludge. At this point, you will drop onto a small island in a river of that nasty sludge....

It’s also a dungeon-crawling RPG, sending characters into a metaphysical plane where their psyches manifest in supernatural powers....

I like dogs, too. I wrote as much when writing about the horrific rectangular dogmorphs of a particular devlog - doglog? levdog? - back in 2016. Those early GIFs would become Wobbledogs, a pet simulation in which you breed mutant dogs. It has now left early access. In Wobbledogs, you start with a flock of pups, and then breed them. Traits get mixed and passed down, and your dogs develop physical and psychological quirks....

Here’s the launch trailer: The name does, I suppose, bring connotations of other things. Hanging around outside clubs to get photos of dogs as they stumble into the night. Telephoto lenses trained on dogs on the beach. Helicopters hovering above dogs on dates in the park. It’s OK here because they’re dogs, and because you’ll be getting your sneaky celebrity dog snaps by double jumping across buildings. As you catalogue the canines, you can make choices about your photography career and upgrade your camera....

It wouldn’t do to disappoint the locals after so much time spent hibernating underground, of course. Giving a cat the equivalent of a post-lockdown haircut is more than a fair trade for not being eaten, I reckon - especially when it means you can snatch the giant, succulent ham roasting on the fire while your feline friend gazes at their newly dyed locks in the mirror. If only all hairdressers were so generous....

The quick and dirty is that Ubisoft have laid out all 18 operators you’ll play in Extraction. They’d previously announced that all of Extraction’s playable characters will be ones you know from Siege but hadn’t revealed all their identities yet. They’re all out in the open now. Tachanka made the list after all. Good for him. There are a lot more numbers down here in the new video as well....

Doktor’s Curse was introduced to R6 a couple years ago, and it’s just a good bit of gimmicky fun. The Theme Park map gets a brilliantly spooky makeover, as if abandoned theme parks weren’t eerie enough. In the hide-and-seek mode, the monsters are the defending team, while the exterminators are the attackers. Everyone has access to special Halloween loadouts and abilities, and there are no guns. Instead, exterminators get breaching hammers to whack mons with, and mons have their usual defending gadget (albeit slightly tweaked), as well as the ability to go briefly invisible....

Twitter user jonhat discovered the exploit, which was easily replicated by Bleeping Computer. The issue is largely down to how Windows Update automatically downloads the Synapse software: because Windows Update has SYSTEM (i.e. admin) privileges, it grants that same level of access to Synapse. Where things can really get dodgy is during Synapse installation. You, or someone trying to mess with your PC, can open a PowerShell window from within the installer – and because Windows effectively gave Synapse admin powers, this gives the PowerShell window admin powers too....

In terms of picture quality, the Razer Raptor is right up there with my current best 1440p monitor picks, the AOC Agon AG273QX and the MSI Optix MAG272CQR, offering deep, vibrant colours straight out of the box. When I tested the monitor on its default settings with the brightness set to 100%, for example, my X-Rite i1 DisplayPro calibrator returned a practically perfect sRGB colour gamut coverage result of 99....

“But Dice have released loads of games!” I hear you cry, and yes they have, but those releases have mostly come from the main studio, Dice Stockholm, while the LA developers have acted as more of a support studio, and haven’t actually released a game by themselves since the studio was taken over by EA. The LA faction started life as DreamWorks Interactive before being acquired by EA in 2000, and rebranded to Danger Close Games in 2010 to focus on the Medal Of Honor series....

The Wild Gentlemen are the developers behind noir detective game Chicken Police, making this a pleasing pivot from grizzled chickens to grizzly chic ions. The spaceship takes more than a few cues from Kirk’s Enterprise, and I’ll be amazed if there isn’t a Star Trek plot where their ship also gets sucked into a black hole that causes it to constantly swap between two time periods while filling the corridors with bug-eyed horrors....

Wizards now have Psyfocus, a new resource which is used when casting magic spells and fades over time too. To top it up, they’ll need to meditate. Wizards can meditate anywhere but it’s boosted by their meditation focus, an object or environment which suits their personality. These can vary based on things like their childhood backstory, traits, and titles. The Dignified focus is meditation thrones, only for titled Empire wizards....

That changed with RimWorld 1.4, which adds “cross-expansion integration”, so now you can use the ideology system from the Ideology expansion to, for example, tell stories about people who have ideologies about the biotech from the biotech expansion. In discussing player feedback in a recent news post on Steam, RimWorld’s designers say that one requested feature they’ve seen is “the desire for integration between expansion packs.” “Originally, I was a bit hesitant to put this in because I worried it would feel like locking one expansion’s content behind another expansion....
