There are quite a few good gets in GOG’s summer sale, at least for yer girl the RPG freak. You can browse by a few handy categories or build a bundle of games on sale from several publishers. The “classics” category has yer Baldur’s Gates, Turoks, King’s Quests, and all them good oldies. Many classics sail in under £10/$10 and quite a lot of those even under £5. Meanwhile the RPGs category has some classics overlap, plus that tricky exploration game Outward, colonise ’em up GreedFall, Infinity Engine imitator Pillars Of Eternity, and lots more....

The news was shared by Netflix via Twitter. The Hollywood Reporter had the extra detail that the partnership deal has been in the works for almost a year. They also refer to it as a “potential cinematic universe.” This isn’t the first attempt to turn BioShock into a movie. Pirates Of The Caribbean director Gore Verbinski was attached to a project the year after the game was released. It ultimately fell through due to the movie’s huge budget and its R-rating, which may have limited its box office potential....

It’ll be another live-action series, though a slightly shorter one than The Witcher with just six episodes. When your bombastic rock band Bunk Bed Junction fail to get past a live audition, you decide to take back the city one district at a time by defeating NSR’s performers at their own concerts in surreal battle-of-the-bands-style boss fights. Once your Steam Deck’s updated, you’ll be able to check what components are in it by going to Model/Serial Numbers under the Hardware header in the System menu. In a post on Steam, Valve said this change lets you check the model and manufacturer of your Steam Deck’s components without having to open the thing up. If you’re really into bypassing things, the update also lets you skip the Deck’s startup movie by pressing B....

Alas, the video stops short of showing us the full and final design of the upcoming Nvidia Ampere GPUs, but it does go into quite a lot of detail about how Nvidia come up with the designs of their graphics cards more generally. It also drops a few, if slightly vague clues about what to expect from their Ampere GPUs, though, which seem to confirm everything we’ve seen and heard about Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series so far - namely, that they’re going to have a rather funky new fan design, as seen in previously leaked photos, and will probably be pretty darn large....

With this update, players will find a book at the start of Dead Cells giving them a challenge. Complete one, and you unlock a new character to play as. The game will also have a bunch of lore rooms (the Hollow Knight one has a bench!) you can visit to find weapons and skills. Those weapons include the Pure Nail from Hollow Knight (which lets you do little jumping attacks on enemies below you, like the Knight when he slash-hops on evil bugs), Curse Of The Dead Gods’ Machete & Pistol, Guacamelee’s Pollo Power, Hyper Light Drifter’s Gun & Sword, and more....

Worldslayer is adding in new story content to the Outriders’ world of Enoch – always good to hear – and a new endgame. It all centres around the creepy original Altered, Erishkigal, who exudes some serious Zuul vibes and is named after the Sumerian goddess of the underworld. I googled it. With Worldslayer, People Can Fly say they’re delving more into the extraterrestrial shenanigans of Enoch’s backstory. I don’t reckon people or aliens should go around just slaying worlds, personally, but if you do want to skip straight to that part then you can bypass the original campaign and get boosted to the right level to take it on....

It’s not totally unexpected that Blizzard are planning to introduce more support hero characters in future seasons. Lead hero designer Alec Dawson acknowledged last month that increasing the pool of support heroes for players to draw on was a long-term focus for the development team. If a new support hero is next in Blizzard’s plans for Overwatch 2’s roster then they won’t be the first since the game launched in October....

Hero pools were introduced back in March as a way of stopping the 2-2-2 meta from stagnating in competitive matches. It was Overwatch’s answer to hero bans really, except players didn’t get to choose the bans - the devs and Overwatch League analysts did based on the popularity of each hero every week (occasionally the bans were chosen by cats, Overwatch is a very serious esport). The system was never designed to be permanent though, and it’s going away now for regular players because it seems to have done its job....

One alleged incident involved the hiring of a senior manager known for “unwelcome approaches and harassment” at a former company, according to a translation by Eurogamer. There’s Astrid, lost in the world, wailing on her broom in her bedroom until she gets a real guitar. From there, she makes friends, joins a band, and begins the inevitably bumpy ride to the top of the pop-punk music world. It is very pop-punk, and very teenaged, and I am very here for that. I like when a teenager learns self-expression and collides with the cutthroat adult world. And in the game....

So there you and four pals are, presented with a choice of four character classes. The Ranger has a crossbow and flashbangs which blind enemies while buffing allies. The Wizard has a fireball wand and can conjure more explosions. The Barbarian has a sword and ludicrous speed. The Paladin has a mace which slows enemies, a shield to cower behind or charge forth with, and several healing abilities. And, of course, they’re all in scrappy homemade costumes....

Star Wars: Eclipse takes place during the High Republic era, when there were lots of Jedi throughout the galaxy and things were going considerably better for them than in most of the films, TV shows and games. The game’s website says it’s set in an uncharted region of the Outer Rim, which sounds cool, I reckon all the best sci-fi is about unexplored planets. (It’s worth noting the website has a nice gallery of screenshots too....

Over in a message from the developers, Ubi say that they’ll be showing off a “gameplay premiere and a deep dive into what you can expect from Extraction.” Last we heard, the game formerly known as Quarantine was a standalone spinoff from R6 Siege’s Outbreak event where squads of three take on hordes of zombie-like things.
