New World player “Inkassokrav” posted the exploit to the game’s forum, alongside a video showing that it’s fairly easy to replicate. It involves switching the game to windowed mode and dragging said window around, which freezes your character’s animation and makes them unable to take damage. Once you let go of the window, the character will take all of the accumulated damage at once if they were being hit, so it’s not like you can just go running around all immortal-like....

Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora is being developed by Massive Entertainment, and they’re building it on their Snowdrop engine, which was first created for use in Tom Clancy’s The Division. The video above talks about how the engine has changed with lots of marketing-speak, but it was enough to remind me of the things from Avatar that would be fun to explore in a videogame. Perhaps the fanciest of the additions is real-time ray tracing, which makes the world’s lighting theoretically more realistic....

It’s not actually Boyfriend Dungeon’s anniversary today – that would have been last week on August 11th – but hey, better late than never, right? It’s the game’s first major update, too, and adds in the last elements of developer Kitfox Games’ promised Kickstarter stretch goals. The new dungeon coming in Secret Weapons has one of the new dateables for its final boss. That’ll be Dr. Holmes the Whip, designed by Unseen Inc’s creative director Ikumi Nakamura, and voiced by streamer Kathleen ‘Loserfruit’ Belsten....

Here’s a new trailer for the Steam release: For those keeping count, Bravely Default 2 is the third game in the JRPG series, and it stars all-new characters so you needn’t have played the first two on Nintendo DS and 3DS. Its story sounds like pretty standard JRPG stuff, to me at least - four heroes set off to gather crystals representing the four elements and to defeat an ancient evil - but the first two games had big mid-game twists and perhaps Bravely Default 2 does as well....

It is perhaps unfair to liken the production of RTS games to a mill. Though (as openly stated in a tutorial video for Terran Command) they often share common features and controls, they’re also some of the most finicky and precise games out there. Terran Command is no different. You have squads of little shooty-soldiers, and they shoot waves of angry alien bugs at your command. But I think that Terran Command is maybe too finicky....

There’s nothing wrong with doing a nice video where you show your voice talent alongside their characters. It’s just that they’re bugsnax and grumpus (grumpuses?). Seeing these allegedly normal human beings in nice headshots beside their wacko talking characters is like watching someone crawl out of the mouth of a sports mascot and then the face of that person unzips and some other creature crawls out of them too. Then you get to the humans voicing things like Banoppers and Cheepoofs and whatnot....

“You’re pretty good at stuff, and nobody hates you yet” is also how I got this job. I’m not entirely sure what to make of Bugsnax to be honest. Like Alice B, many were equally charmed and bemused by its original trailer back in June, with its cheerful talking fuzzy creatures having their body parts warped into the food they ate somehow being nowhere near as sinister as it sounds....
