When the in game countdown clock for the event hit zero, players saw five giant pylons pop out of the ground around The Agency. Right at the center, a pillar rose out of the ground with what looks like one of those plasma ball toys on top. After pulling power from its five supporting pillars, Sauron’s eye shoots out a bunch of purple lightning to do battle against Fortnite’s circular blue storm....
The game’s Steam page confirms this is the Frog Detective series finale. You and Lobster Cop are sent to the wild west to solve a mystery in a sheriff-less county, and uncover a sinister schme. My favourite line on the Steam page is this: “For some reason the other games sold half a million copies.” They deserve to have sold that many because they’re simple, lovely, playful things. The first game, The Haunted Island, and its sequel, The Case Of The Invisible Wizard, are both a few quid at the moment....
The free remaster of Frog Fractions released last night is, largely, the same educational maths challenge that’s been lurking on the internet for years. But besides being bumped up to modern resolutions and avoiding the death throes of Adobe Flash, FF’s Steam launch also arrived with a tiny piece of DLC. Generously described as “donationware” by Sin, Hops’ Iconic Cap simply promises a cool hat for the wee amphibian. That’s what I wrote it off as, too, when given code by developer Jim Crawford....
While indie game store Itch.io declared NFTs a scam, Newell is more open to the “underlying technology of distributed ledgers” – but says there are just too many bad actors using that technology for nefarious endeavours, namely fraud and money laundering. Steam banned games with NFTs and cryptocurrency last year. “You have to separate the underlying technology versus which actors are utilising that technology,” Newell explained. “It’s like, if you’re a chemist, and you’re looking at nitrocellulose, you’re like, ‘Oh, yeah, we can do some really interesting stuff with that....

Gamescom is one of the biggest yearly consumer shows and E3-like announce-a-thons, and it tends to have a bit more of a PC presence than some of the others. A press release says the 2021 event will have “an entertainment area especially designed for a reduced amount of on-site visitors”, including space for cosplay and esports competitions. They mention their safety plans for physical event given the ongoing pandemic, which include a digital queue-management system, as well as whole lot of exhibitor guidelines and social distancing rules....

The Mads Mikkelsen Face mod was created by “Lascaroman” over on Nexus Mods. They don’t have much to say about it yet in the mod’s description—which is fine. The face speaks for itself, yeah? Lascaroman replaced the shape of Geralt’s mug with Mads but say they haven’t created a new texture for the face yet as they’re still quite new to modding. Great first work though, really. They recommend using one of a couple modded face textures for Geralt created by other modders....
It also means the Gigabyte Aorus 15G is quite a bit cheaper than the Scar 15, and while £2300 / $2000 is still a sizable chunk of change for a gaming laptop, it is at least a tad bit friendlier than the Scar’s current asking price of £2700 / $2700.
