This is the first of two big livestream events AMD are holding this month, as they’re also due to unveil their upcoming Big Navi graphics cards on October 28th - just a day before Nvidia’s RTX 3070 goes on sale. We still don’t know when either their Ryzen CPUs or the Big Navi cards will be available to buy yet, but hopefully we’ll get some proper release date, pricing and specs information on the former during today’s livestream....
Get the WD Elements 14TB HDD for £222 (was £311) If we type those numbers into the big computer here, it gives me a result of 1.6p per gigabyte. That’s pretty good - I’ve seen slightly better values before, but it’s rare to see it on a drive of this size. I won’t go into the full spiel now, but for anyone that remembers the indignity of filling an entire drive with a single game install, way back in the prehistoric era of Windows 98 computer gaming, this is a frankly inconceivable amount of storage....
Piko Interactive are the developers behind this release. Buying old games and rereleasing them seems to be most of Piko’s wheelhouse, as they’ve bought a bunch of old IPs and stuck the games onto digital storefronts. Piko Interactive were, for example, behind the Steam releases of Super 3D Noah’s Ark, First Samurai, and something called Bubble Ghost which sounds cuter than it probably is. Piko’s previous releases typically also include the original file for the game, so hopefully Glover purists will also be satisfied by this version....

Tee’ing up on Epic last year (and Apple Arcade, and Switch, shh), What The Golf? is a perfectly normal Tiger Woods ’em up about hitting various ball-shaped objects into pockets. Sometimes the ball is a truck. Sometimes the hole is two-dimensional. As I said, nothing out of the ordinary. Admittedly a game developed by people who neither care for nor know anything about golf, What The Golf’s 500+ holes are a bold exercise in how far you can stretch the concept of golf while still calling it golf....

When I say that, I want to clarify that I’m thinking purely in terms of creative output. “Best” as in “created the largest or most interesting or most inventive body of work.” Because modding communities are often made up of insecure young people battling for control, respect and seniority, and that leads to a lot of gatekeeping, fighting, and drama....
You must understand: I do not like mushrooms. Mushrooms are grim. I will not knowingly eat a mushroom. They’re the food substance that I will still pick out and leave on the side of my plate like a 10-year-old child. No matter how minute the morsel of morel, if I spot that it’s fungus, it’s getting painstakingly teased off my slice of pizza. Well, not all, because Blizzard also showed off that Wrath of the Lich King is coming to World of Warcraft Classic later this year. WoW, it’s not just the economy that feels like 2008. Dragonflight raises the level cap to 70 and drags the action back from the Shadowlands to Azeroth’s Dragon Isles, which is where all the dragons come from. Best tell Daenerys. Apparently, as “their sacred broodlands reawaken, the dragons will call on the heroes of the Alliance and Horde to help reckon with the threats and mysteries that are beginning to surface”....
Team17 are definitely taking a swing on this one, but I suppose its up to Worms fans old and new to decide if it’s a hit or miss. Worms Rumble will be ditching typical series features like turn-based combat in favor of fast-paced action. It will have 32-player Deathmatch and Last Worm Standing modes that you can play across platforms with your console pals. Seems like Team17 are going all-in on the online service game format with in-game currency to unlock worm skins, daily challenges, and seasonal events....
Xbox cloud gaming, Microsoft’s service which lets folks play certain Xbox games on phones, is coming to PC next spring. With an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, we’ll be able to play shiny new games even on a rubbish old PC, run on a remote server then streamed back to us as video. It’s the same dealio as Stadia, GeForce Now, and other such services. Sure, the experience is worse than running a game on a good PC, but the convenience is big....

Rumblings surrounding 2023’s Call Of Duty instalment, or if there’s even going to be one, have been going on for some time now. I noted last month that Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier had pooh-poohed the idea that a full Call Of Duty game would see the light of day in 2023. Schreier didn’t clarify where he’d heard that from, though, but he’s waded in again to cast doubt on Activision’s statement meaning there’s a full COD game coming next year....
