Which makes yesterday’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update pretty remarkable. The AWP’s magazine size has been cut in half and the M4A1-S now does less damage at long range. Valve announced the changes with a tiny blog post, as if even the smallest tweak to Counter-Strike’s arsenal wasn’t guaranteed to cause community conniptions. And this wasn’t the smallest change. The AWP is Counter-Strike’s (almost always) one-shot-kill sniper rifle. It previously had 10 bullets per clip, and now it has 5....

Set to be Crucial’s new flagship DDR4 memory line, their Ballistix Max series will offer RAM speeds from a whopping 4000MHz all the way up to 4400MHz. Available in densities of 8GB and 16GB, each Max stick will have a black aluminium heat spreader to help keep it cool, as well as special DIMM modules with integrated thermal sensors so you can monitor its temperature in real-time. Disgaea 6’s most flashy innovation was switching the 2D isometric art for fully 3D battlefields. It looks… worse, honestly? Disgaea’s character designs have always made me want to draw the curtains lest anyone see, but the switch to 3D seems to stripped environments of some of their texture and atmosphere. Otherwise it’s a similar story. You are Zed, a boastful zombie with unique powers levelling and building an army across tactical battles in the Netherworld....

Disintegration boasts a new hybrid genre, which is essentially an FPS with RTS elements. DuckTales: Remastered is pretty much a remake of the old 8-bit DuckTales platformer. Deadline report that the project has been shopped around since November 2022, with “multiple buyers” and Paramount+ eventually winning out. Paramount+ is currently the home for the Halo live-action TV series. Rawson Marshall Thurber’s previous project was Red Notice, a movie starring Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot and The Rock which looked to me, from trailers, like it had been algorithmically constructed. It was - perhaps as a result of being algorithmically constructed - apparently Netflix’s most watched film of all time....
