The Flare Path Ticket To Ryde

Why GeoFS? Technical issues mean FSX and X-Plane are not an option for the cash-strapped FPST at present. While Xavier Tassin’s creation has little to offer the armchair aeronaut after accurate avionics, sophisticated weather modelling or eye-catching 3D architecture, enhanced with streamed HD terrain textures (yours for a 10 Euro annual fee) as a vehicle for fuss-free aerial sightseeing it’s far from shabby. Why the Isle of Wight? Three reasons....

The Game Awards 2020 Will Be On December 10Th

The Game Awards have announced that they’ll be airing on Thursday, December 10th for 2020. They say that 2020’s show will be presented live from around the world in Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo this year. As with past years, you can pretty much bet that The Game Awards will be a mixture of actual awards and publisher marketing. I’d be more critical about the number of trailers that get crammed into what’s allegedly an awards show, but 2018’s event gave us the first Dragon Age 4 teaser so it seems my good graces can easily be won with RPGs....

The Game Awards Nominees Announced With Deathloop Leading The Way

The nominees are chosen by a jury of games media publications and “influencer outlets.” Disclosure: RPS was asked several times in previous years to take part, but none of us could ever be bothered to fill in our ballots. The actual winners are selected via public vote, and the voting is open now if you want to participate. Among the more interesting nominees below is Cyberpunk 2077, which was released late last year and broadly derided for its bugs and slow performance, particularly on console....

The Last Rps Christmas Cracker

Every year Graham opens the secret panel in the back of all our heads (with a little screwdriver) and removes our batteries so we don’t cause any trouble over the break. On January the 4th he’ll put new ones in, but to keep you amused until then we’ve left you a little Christmas cracker with a joke inside. There’s one for every day of the break! You can find articles you might not have read, or help cover the cost of fresh batteries, with the RPS supporter program....

The Next Steamworld Is A Third Person Co Op Action Game

The announcement on the Thunderful website says that the game takes place after “the (literally) earth-shattering events of SteamWorld Dig 2.” It also features a “head-popping twist”, as seen in the teaser above. There’s nothing else known about the game at this stage, other than that it’s “internally developed” by Thunderful. Thunderful are the publisher and developer that absorbed SteamWorld creators Image & Form last year. SteamWorld’s development team are currently finishing up duties on their first non-SteamWorld game, The Gunk....

The Outer Worlds Touches Down On Steam This Month

After all, what better place for a tale of unchecked capitalism run amok than Valve’s brutally competitive storefront? Obsidian broke word of Outer Wilds The Outer Worlds’ expansion onto Steam this week with a recruitment call over on Twitter. Is it still funny to confuse those two? Asking for games journalists everywhere. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. The Overwatch League Is Going Online For Its Spring Matches

To avoid latency issues and make matches as fair as possible, the teams will be competing in the regions they’re currently residing in. The LA Gladiators, LA Valiant, San Francisco Shock, Seoul Dynasty, Vancouver Titans and Dallas Fuel make up the US West Coast contingent. Atlanta Reign, Boston Uprising, Florida Mayhem, Houston Outlaws, London Spitfire, Philadelphia Fusion, New York Excelsior, Paris Eternal, Toronto Defiant, and Washington Justice will compete against each other on the East Coast (and in Texas)....

The Pc Gaming Hardware We Re Looking Forward To In 2022

From ambitious inventions like the Steam Deck to such long-expected updates as the AMD Ryzen 7000 series, 2022 has the potential to be a vintage year for PC gaming kit. Granted, there are risks too: global pandemics evidently aren’t ideal for electronics production, and much of this upcoming gear could easily be misappropriated for nefarious means, like peddling ugly drawings of chimps. The horror! Nevertheless, I reckon there’s more to look forward to than to fret about, and at least one big move from Intel in particular could change the face of gaming graphics cards as we know it....

The Rally Point Ostriv Workers Resources And Where Town Builders Ought To Go Next

Building games are doing well. But they could be doing more. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these two are from Ukrainian and Slovakian devs. While Germany is traditionally the home of economic management games, the most common influence I see is still SimCity, a game thoroughly rooted in American liberalism. Before anyone misinterprets, I’m talking strictly about the political lens through which Sim City was created, as it relates to city planning and development....

The Rally Point The Complete Battle Brothers Is Still The Mercenary Game To Beat

But since an update last March looks likely to be its last big one, it’s about time to get over myself and gave it a proper look as a complete package. It’s long overdue, in fact. Although I still struggle to fully enjoy it, Battle Brothers is an unusually good tactical game, and the one to beat for the burgeoning subgenre of mercenary management sims. That’s partly because it sticks so resolutely to its guns....

The Rps Advent Calendar 2020 December 12Th

Hell of a racket behind door 12 of our Advent Calendar. Sounds like an entire building is being destroyed - but not wantonly. With a very intense purpose, in fact. It’s Teardown! Alice0: Smashing stuff is cool, video games know, but it’s rarely practical. Years of research and development have gone into making piles of clutter fall over and explode in slightly fancier ways. Teardown has cool destruction, no doubt, but it’s far from gratuitous....

The Weekspot Podcast Outer Wilds Dlc Microsoft Store Developer Split Insurmountable Review

So, of course, Headlines & Hot Takes was full of chat on what exactly the rumoured Outer Wilds DLC might turn out to be. If Echoes Of The Eye is happening, it’s fair to say that anything we can dream up will pale in comparison to what the big brains at Mobius Digital make. As well as that, we chat about Microsoft’s aim to deliver a top-tier PC version of Halo Infinite and their plans to give developers a larger take of games sold on the Microsoft Store....

But, before we turn our attention to The Medium, there’s the little matter of newsy-news. Now, because our knowledge of the stock market stops and ends with things like The Big Short and Billions, we’ve decided to focus on things that we can talk about for longer than 40 seconds. So, Headlines and Hot Takes this week has chatter on what IO Interactive might do when it comes to Hitman 3 DLC, and there’s also some talk on what they said about James Bond in some recent interviews....

The Witcher 4 Needs A Double Jumping Horse Like Elden Ring Or I M Out

I’m sure Roach has a great personality, I’m sure he’s very kind. But from a purely professional standpoint, I can’t stand him. He’s hardly smooth in the stirrups, nor can he really climb anything substantial. That’s why I’d like Roach swapped out for Elden Ring’s Torrent, a horse-goat that corners like Colin McCrae and double jumps like Super Mario. The Witcher 4 deserves a super horse like Torrent. I’m excited for The Witcher 4, whatever form it might take....

The Witcher Season Two Is Out Now And Season Three S Scripts Are Almost Done

Speaking to TechRadar, Hissirch said on December 3rd that ““Actually, this is our last week in the writers’ room. We’re almost done with the scripting phase, and it’s amazing. I’m really thrilled with how the season is shaping up because it’s based on my favorite book in the saga, which is The Time of Contempt.” Time Of Contempt is the second Witcher novel, with seasons one and two of the Netflix series based on the first book and some short stories that followed....

This Ghostly Puzzle Game Looks Absolutely Gorgeous

The game tells the story of a character who’s turned into a ghost, and finds themself trapped in a puzzly world populated by spirits. It seems like each level consists of grids that used to flow towards an exit, but now find themselves clogged up by things like fallen leaves, chunky crystals, and fallen leeks. This Minecraft Fan S Concept Video For A River Update Is Cool

As the making-of after the initial trailer demonstrates, it is all fake. But it’s still nice. I’d be well up for a Minecraft updating revitalising watercourses like this. The Lush Creek in particular looks very exciting to explore. Though as someone who does often swim in rivers, I would like to see more tight glens, linns, and other places rivers run through steep moss-lined cuts in the rock. I’m up for more drama and vertical contrast in Minecraft in general....

This Playable Procedural Climbing Demo Is Very Cool

I recently watched Mission Impossible 2, an awful movie where the only redeemable part is the climbing in the first two minutes. I also watched Free Solo, a terrifying documentary about a man who hates the ground and endeavours to get as far away from it as possible using only his fingertips. Both movies left me with an appetite for more climbing in games. Not climbing as sightseeing, or VR climbing where I need to wave my arms around in the air like actually I do care, but climbing as a terrifying risk....
