After 21 years as a Rockstar Games big cheese, Dan Houser will leave the company in March. He’s co-written almost every Rockstar game since 1999, including Grand Theft Auto from London through to V, Bully, Max Payne 3, and the Red Dead Redemptions. That’s made him a big influence on the tone of Rockstar’s games. I wonder how that might change once he’s moved on. Where he’s going and what he’ll do next, we don’t know....
Suicide Squad stars Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark, with players able to control any one of them or team up in four-player online co-op. The basic setup is that the four villains are drafted to help the US government, with bombs implanted in their head should they disobey. And in this instance, they’re being sent to kill the Justice League, who I guess are evil now, in an open world Metropolis....
Being able to skate at full speed without fear of crashing made me a more creative skater. I’ve always had a precarious relationship with roller-skates; they look cool, but actually using them was another matter. As some of you may remember, the first major innovation in PC modding was the use of colour, with hardware manufacturers such as DFI blazing a trial with bright green and yellow motherboards and I/O ports to try and bring some flare to the back of our sealed PC cases back then. Lending some weight to these rumours, ActuGaming editor Julien Blary pre-empted the reveal of Overwatch 2, Diablo 4 and World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands on Twitter....

The incoming dogs were revealed at Gamescom last week. While they will be arriving with this update, it’s worth noting that you will need to buy them from the game’s premium store, The Pirate Emporium, with your real money if you want one. So, you’ll be able to get these new missions from the Gold Hoarders, who seemed to have so much gold that they didn’t know what to do with it, so they stashed in ancient vaults....
Building on a free browser predecessor that’s since been claimed by Flash’s death throes, Kindom: Classic is a wonderfully minimalist 2015 settlement builder from developers Noio. Kindom, in case you missed it, is a quietly simple and curiously serene kingdom management sim. Riding atop your kingly steed, you venture left and right across a gorgeous world, doling out coins to your subjects to have them construct buildings, and fending off the monsters that gnaw at your borders....
For the uninitiated, Elden Ring has an online player-versus-player component. You’re able to invade other people’s worlds and engage in fisticuffs. Defeat them and you’ll earn runes that help you level up, or Rune Arcs that act as buffs. As with all online competitive multiplayer things, metas emerge. People find the optimal concoction of clothes and weaponry that’ll ensure they have the best chance of winning. And it turns out that it’s Sonic The Hedgehog who’s earned that crown in Elden Ring....
Developer Derek Yu shared the Steam page for Spelunky 2 which is now up for you to gawk at. He also expanded on the original “shortly after PS4” launch estimate given last week to say Mossmouth are “aiming to get the game out on Steam no later than a few weeks after our September 15th PS4 launch date.” If I’ve counted my fingers properly, that works out to sometime in October for standard interpretations of “few”....

Just like previous Winter Sales, spending money on games will earn you Steam Points, which you can then use to buy little cosmetics, including those aforementioned stickers, to decorate your Steam profile and liven up your Steam chats. Personally, the only Steam doodads I care about these days are the trading cards....

It’s an excellent choice for anyone working in a quiet environment, as good condenser mics like this one are able to capture voices with warmth and detail, but don’t do as well as dynamic mics when it comes to rejecting off-axis noise. This is way beyond the scope of this, a simple deals blog, but generally you also want to be sitting good and close to the mic so that you don’t have to have its gain turned up to an absurd degree....
The folks down in the RPS treehouse (or their respective branches wot with the lockdown and all) liked themselves a bit of Streets Of Rogue. A wildly systemic roguelikelike in a procedural tower full of shrink rays, werewolves and black market McNuggets, Brendy called it “a small and cheerful antidote to the relatively plain-faced immersive sims of the blockbuster sort” in his Streets Of Rogue review. We reckon it’s one of the best co-op games you can play on PC....

Tabletop Simulator comes with the fairly standard contents of a nan’s game cupboard already set up: Chess, Solitaire, Go, Backgammon, Dominoes, jigsaw puzzles, and such. The big draw is that people can create all sorts of other games in it, all sorts of combinations of boards, token, dice, figurines, scenery pieces, and assets you create. For most people, yeah, that mostly means you can download games other people have already made....
Devs Ironwood seem to be going for something in the ballpark of Tales From The Loop and Stranger Things. It feels like there’s a bit of the bad-ass concept of Escape From New York in there too, and the team credit S.T.A.L.K.E.R. among their influences. Pacific Drive is set in the abandoned Olympic Exclusion Zone, an area of the Pacific Northwest that was used for weird scientific experiments by the US government starting in 1955....
