Survivor takes place five years after the events of the first game, which sets it, for reference, at the same time as the Kenobi TV series. The Empire are at their worst, and again the story follows Cal Kestis. The trailer doesn’t give much away. There’s a bit of lightsaber combat, Cal’s ship the Mantis crashed on a desert world, and a one-armed, long-haired fella floating in a bacta tank....
Saipark works on a weekly rota, headlining two species of Tem. Unlike their counterparts in the outside world, catching these Tems within the park’s walls will come with special bonuses - an increased chance of being “Luma” (a rare, alternate visual style), spawning with special “egg moves” or coming with a higher minimum SV value. Developers Crema plan to put out an infographic like this one each week, revealing the Saipark’s two bonus Tem and the cost-of-entry....
Cipanku island is a new area where “tradition and technology converge together,” and where new Digital-type Temtems have been bred in captiivty. Clan Belsoto - Temtem’s main antagonists - have set those Digital Tems free, giving you the opportunity to catch them in the wild. They have their own traits and their own strengths and weaknesses against other kinds of Temtem. The update adds 24 new Temtem in total, including the first mythical Temtem....

In a somewhat unrestrained Steam announcement post, McMillen reckoned that Repentance is so large as to be “basically a sequel at this point”. From the sounds of it, it’ll be a larger step up from Rebirth than Rebirth was from the original 2011 flash game. More than that, though, is the notion that Repentance may actually be close to completion. See, Repentance has been a good while in the making....

Nate got way too excited about his idea for a Dance Dance Revolution mod based on Pacific Rim, Matthew got to show some love for the adorably brutish Gears Of War series, and stern warnings were given on the damage that Overcooked can do to relationships. Worldslayer’s story is all about taking on its big bad, creepy lady Erishkigal. People Can Fly said when Worldslayer was announced in April that this expansion would delve further into the alien nature of Outriders setting on the planet Enoch, and Erishkigal certainly seems like she’s got some funky extraterrestrial stuff happening. The endgame starts after you take on Erishkigal and win, though, which opens up the Trial of Tarya Gratar....
Putting a hold on their weekly free rotation for the holidays, the Epic Games Store last week announced that they’d be giving away a new free game every day for 15 days, starting today. They’ll only be available on the day they arrive - if you want to claim all 15, you’ll need to log into the Epic Store every day for the next two weeks. Announced during the Wired Direct presentation, the Atun’s Folly DLC has launched today. Developer Tomas Sala explained that there wasn’t much to being a pirate in The Falconeer previously. You could attack allies and be hunted down for it, but that was about it. With the Atun’s Folly udpate you can now become a pirate proper by attacking traders, stealing and reselling their loot, and paying off the authorities to reduce your wanted level....
Jackbox have explained the Pack’s five games in blog posts. Drawful: Animate expands the popular draw-o-guessing game to make two-frame looping animations based on supplied titles, and bumps the player cap up to 10 too. The Wheel Of Enormous Proportions is a trivia game where correct answers get you a larger slice of the eponymous spinning wheel, making it more likely to select you for prizes. The Poll Mine is a competitive team guessing game, where players will have to select their top three choices from categories like “Favourite Ice Cream Topping” and “Most Annoying Movie Trope” then try to guess, in various orders and rankings, what others thought....

Specifically, Overclocks has the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) version of the Core i5-12600K for £245, as well as the conventional retail model for £260. In both cases, there’s a chance to make a not-insignifcant saving on the £290 RRP; it does look like most retailers keep the Core i5-12600K closer to £280, but still, this is by far the cheapest I’ve seen it. And it’s certainly less than I expecting to see it before the end of November, given it only went on sale on the 4th....
I never finished the first System Shock but adored Shock 2 so I am quite keen to finally get around to this. The way they echo the original style of building the world from blocks and wedges has grown on me, though I was initially a bit disappointed when they switched art style. Now, no, I dig this. It looks good. System Shock is due out on Steam and GOG later this year....
I might as well put this upfront: I don’t think I want the same thing most players do. Let me relate both why I admire Distant Worlds, and why I don’t think its sequel will do what I want. The basic idea is as it always is. You start with a single settlement, in this case a planet, and must build scoutships and resource extracting facilities on your planet and other bodies within your star system....
Best leave this to a professional. It’s Hitman 3! Matthew Castle: This makes it three for three, where Hitman and the RPS advent calendar are concerned. How very predictable. That’s three times we’ve put the same old sneak-and-snuff under the Christmas tree - I’m surprised you didn’t clock that telltale bald head shape under the wrapping paper on day one. (And no, I didn’t leave the price tag on - that barcode’s part of him....
What else could it be but Pentiment! Rachel: I don’t know how Obsidian made a detective game set in ye olde medieval times, but the result of their efforts is one of the best mystery games of the year. What makes Pentiment truly great - and what some of my other favourite detective games also do well - is that it gets back to basics with mystery solving. No flashy shootouts, no car chases, no brooding detective whose dead wife made him a trigger-happy, loose cannon, stick-up-the-arse....
