My top pick has to be EA’s Command & Conquer Remastered Collection, which is down to less than £6 for those buying in the UK thanks to a hefty discount of 67% off. System Shock 2 is also up for grabs for less than two quid - perfect if you want to brush up on yer Shock knowledge before the new reboot comes out. Just don’t be fooled by the 20% off deal on Control’s Ultimate Edition (which includes its just-released AWE, aka the Alan Wake Expansion, DLC), as you can get a much better deal on this over at Green Man Gaming at the moment where it’s a whopping 32% off....

Oh no. There’s new story stuff, too. No one told me Hyper Scape had narrative. Well, now I have to play it. So, Hyper Scape’s very first season, The First Principle, is introducing many a new thing, the first of which is a gun called the Dragonfly. It’s a new silenced mid-range rifle with which to somewhat stealthily take out your opponenets. There’s also a new Hack (those are your abilities) for players to try out called Magnet, which lets you draw in and trap potential assailants....

As you’d expect from an Arkane game, each one of these maps is absolutely huge, full of nooks and crannies and secret passageways just itching to be exploited as you try and take down all of its slightly mad Eternalist cult leaders in a single cycle. But the thing I’ve been most intrigued by in Deathloop so far isn’t its weird cubby holes or how maps change over time. It’s all those huffing great arcade cabinets littered about the place....

Alas, I think they were, in fact, real humans rather than ghostly PS5 apparitions, but despite all the hoo hah about how all the games had been “designed exclusively for the PlayStation 5” or were absolutely definitely positively a proper exclusive yes for real this time, you may have seen that a surprising number of the revealed PS5 games are also coming to PC. And I don’t know about you, but I was hoping for something that would really make me want to buy a PlayStation 5, something that I could only get from that overgrown Wi-Fi router....

And then there’s simultaneous turns. I want to cheer them on, to bewail the lack of games that dive into that rift between turn based and real time tactics and scheming. Otherwise, today’s teaser has pretty much the verbatim plot description from when the show was announced, saying “Set in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League champions-and the power that will tear them apart.” The new teaser trailer is plenty short, but you can spot Vi and Jinx in it for sure....

I’ve played like one match of League and don’t fancy ever jumping into a MOBA again, so I’m looking forward to trying these. RPGs are much more my thing, plus I know League has a load of juicy lore that’d be fab to explore outside of the competitive PvP stuff. Ruined King is a singleplayer turn-based RPG developed by Airship Syndicate, the folks who made Darksiders Genesis. You’ll have a party of League characters (Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Yasuo, Ahri, and Pyke), and will have to deal with the baddies causing a spooky mist that’s fallen over Bilgewater and the Shadow Isles....

‘Cabaret mini-game’ is somewhat misleading. These mostly optional segments in Yakuza games are about running what’s commonly called a hostess club. Male customers enter your bar and players have to match a hostess with them who will suit their temperament, ply them with compliments and drinks, and make profit for your club. It’s a real industry that has a real dark side, which is somewhat depicted via Yakuza 0’s rival club owners, but the Like A Dragon series mostly treats it the same way it does everything, with charm and silliness and melodrama....

That past involves violent witch trials of a Salem-y nature, and more recent economic devastation. Your control switches between all of the characters, and through a mix of split-second decisions, exploration of creepy ruins, and quick time events as you run from monsters, the group will either die horrible deaths or survive until morning for the revelatory plot twist. And while Little Hope is better than last year’s Man Of Medan, I wouldn’t say it reaches the heights of being actually good....
