On paper, it’s received a sizable spec bump. Instead of 10GB of GDDR6X memory, the RTX 3080 Ti now has 12GB of the stuff. It also has substantially more CUDA cores than before, putting it closer to Nvidia’s more creator-focused RTX 3090 than its non-Ti sibling. With a GPU power of 350W, it’s a little more power hungry than the regular RTX 3080, but Nvidia still recommend having the same 750W power supply as the rest of their high-end RTX 30 family....
Both hit the 2560x1440 resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate, with the Canvas 27QHD being a flat 27in screen and the Canvas 32QHD Curved being 32in and… well, curved. They support AMD FreeSync Premium, meaning they should work with Nvidia G-Sync as well, and come with anti-glare coatings to see off reflections. These aren’t outstanding specs by the standards of the best gaming monitors, and of course, their true value will be in how they perform....
The trailer only gives us a brief glimpse of what its Videoverse social network will look like in-game, but its Steam page gives us a bit more to go on, showing lots more screenshots of its ‘Feudal Fantasy’ community pages as well as its forum-style conversations between its main cast of characters. Personally, I’m getting big Hypnospace Outlaw vibes, but with gorgeous 1-bit artwork. Rather than playing as an online corporate cop, however, Videoverse will be putting you in the shoes of Emmett, a video game-obsessed teen....
Ori And The Will Of The Wisps was meant to be released last month - but that’s ok, because we’d all rather have it a bit late than rushed, and now we can play it on Game Pass on as soon as it launches. There’s lots to look forward to with the next Ori installment, too. I’m personally excited to hear more of the game’s lovely music, which Matthew found out more about when he had a chat with the game’s composer, Gareth Coker....

Outriders wasn’t in good shape a few days after it arrived, with one big issue being an inability for players to Out-Ride with their friends across platforms. Well, a recent patch has fixed this connection issue, so PC, PlayStation and Xbox folks can all band together once again. Unfortunately, a bug that’s wiped player inventories still remains, albeit at a greatly reduced rate. “Additional preventative measures” were deployed soon after the crossplay patch which should mean inventory wipes won’t occur as frequently as before, but it’s still recommended to keep your wits about you....

Best I can tell from this latest trailer, Paradise Killer is Tom Parkinson-Morgan webcomic Kill Six Billion Demons filtered through the chirpy 90s crime-solving vibes of Murder By Numbers. Alright, then. Paradise Killer is, on the face of it, a pretty standard mystery. As yer man Taggart used to say, there’s been a murder, and you’re the out-of-town detective here to work out whodunnit. Just a day on the job for any Columbo or Marple, right?...
If anything, I reckon Wilmot would be a wee bit jealous of Patrick. You see, in Patrick’s line of work, his cubes contain multitudes, to misquote that famous Walt Whitman line. As long as they’re resting against a hard surface, cubes can be packed into other cubes in Patrick’s Parabox like a stack of matryoshka dolls. They can also be unpacked in the same way, allowing him to navigate the tight constraints of his respective puzzle arenas with surprising dexterity....

In Otogarden you control a carefree turtle demon and have them wander about a garden where the flora makes plinks and plonks sampled from traditional Japanese instruments. This means that as you run through flowers, bump into trees, and splash in the pond, they’ll each make a nice sound....
But in a fit of quarantine madness I have decided to play through all of the Dragon Age games again, starting all properly with Origins and everything. And the other night, I was struck with inspiration. Surely the nerds have made a bunch of DA stuff for The Sims 4? They have! Although not as much as you might think. In terms of build items, I think you could do a pretty decent job with a bunch of existing stuff from the Vampires, Realm Of Magic or Romantic Garden packs that EA put out....
Aruni’s gadget is called a Surya Gate, a laser barrier that can be deployed horizontally or vertically over walls, doors, hatches, and such. You can see it in action in Ubisoft’s Neon Dawn video right here. Fellow defenders can waltz through the Surya Gate without trouble, but attackers will take 40 points of damage to their health to get through. After it unleashes a shock, whether that’s to an enemy player or one of their drones or throwables, it will briefly deactivate to recharge....
Quarantine sends three players on missions to probe and battle many varities of goopmen (officially called Archæns, æ and all), using the familiar abilities of 18 operators to scout, manipulate, and murder. Along the way, they can flee via extraction points or push deeper to face greater threats in the hope of greater rewards. Honestly, this looks pretty fun. Ubisoft gabbing about the importance of stealth to avoid riling the beasties did make me think of the wonderfully horrible cooperative sci-fi shooter GTFO, a game I am too much of a baby to play....
It’s the most up-to-date version of DLSS, too: version 2.2.10.0, which means you’ll get all the different Performance, Quality and Balanced modes you may have seen in other recent DLSS games. I did have a quick poke around Reddit to see how people are getting on, and there are reports of oversharpening and ghosting, and a few pop-up artefacts. The effects of reducing and boosting aren’t entirely unnoticeable on RDR2’s glorious vistas....
And in fact, since Control has come out in the interim, I will say it’s maybe like Control meets Life Is Strange. You play a journalist, Sam Higgs, who is constantly having arguments with another version of himself who dresses like a carnival barker by way of a private schoolboy, currently known as The Double. The teaser also comes with the news that Dontnod are publishing this game themselves (the first time they’ve done a publish) and have extended development, so Twin Mirror is no longer going to be episodic....

I spent a good chunk of time on Discord with my oldest and bestest friend. We have a small ritual of playing coop games over the holidays, barely acknowledging the passing of time as we bicker and giggle together. We are both over 40. We played a couple of incredibly tough Portal 2 community maps with a limited success rate. But that’s okay because I find the potential for disaster in co-operative puzzling utterly hilarious, and usually crumble into snotty laughter at least once a session....
If Dungeon Keeper let you rule over a tiny slice of evil, then Ruinarch hopes to deliver an entire world to crush under your evil, massive thumb. Ruinarch appears to be Dwarf Fortress or Rimworld for evil bastards, putting you in the spiked boots of an evil overlord watching over a simulated fantasy sandbox. Picking from one of several tyrant archetypes, you’ll be given a host of tools to mess with your hapless minions - whether that’s spreading dangerous artifacts throughout the world, summoning demons in the woods, or flat-out just hurling meteors at towns....
I’d be game for either. I want to meet my space friends again, even if they will be different and weird. This isn’t the first time someone has set the rumour mill spinning, but this one does apparently come from a source that was correct about Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kanobi in a new Star Wars show.
