The Long Dark is one of the best survival games according to RPS and it gets my personal stamp as well. I always tend to putter out on survival games. I tire of cutting trees and crafting huts made of their lumber carcasses and wot not. The Long Dark is quite good though. It mixes just the right amount of crafting faff with tense moments of action and stealth running and hiding from dangerous predators....
Yesterday Sony showed off the “all-new” PlayStation Plus game line-up, and it contains less than ever for PC players. The post on the PlayStation blog makes almost no mention of the PC as a platform. The only point at which it is mentioned relates to the streaming of PlayStation 3 games to PC, which will be available to those who pay for the most expensive PlayStation Plus Premium tier. I made a pair of Sim eco warrior roomies called Britta Horace and Nigel Sneed, along with Britta’s small and lazy mongrel dog Graham. They moved into the off-the-grid shipping crate home in Port Promise, which is an industrial port area in a terrible state, and promptly became abjectly miserable. The Sims get sick even going outside because the air quality is so poor. They are constantly dirty and unhappy because they shower in brackish, room temperature water, and on their first night a huge thunderstorm destroyed their dew collector, so showers may soon become a thing of the past....
Ultra Deluxe is an “expanded re-imagining” of the original game from 2013, in which you played as Stanley, an office worker whose actions garner responses from a glib narrator. You can do as the narrator says, or rebel against his comments, and the narrative spins out in funny and surprising ways I won’t spoil. This is that but again and more, I guess, and possibly different. Ultra Deluxe is being made by Crows Crows Crows, the team founded by one-half of the original Stanley Parable development team, William Pugh....
You might remember seeing this earlier in the year. Well, now the first public version is out. The creator explains on Reddit that battles and armies are generated by calculating the ratio of army sizes (given M&B2’s 1000-unit cap), and trying to select M&B units similar to your CK3 army. Future plans include “sieges, duels, new troops, inventory and equipment system, and much more”. I imagine many of us have thought “It would be so cool if this game had Feature X from Game Y”....

The characters in Paradise Killer all have superb and cool names. Your player character detective is called Lady Love Dies, for example. There’s Carmelina Silence. Doom Jazz, the doctor who lives on a speedboat. Sam Day Break the skeleton bartender. They’re the sort of names I could never come up with myself. But now I don’t have to, because writer/editor/photographer Tiana Attride has made a very good Paradise Killer Name Generator....
Amazing. Just amazing. Thoroughly delighted. No idea why they did this. It’s not even a big DLC. Only adds two vehicles from new manufacturer Rottne. The game already has forestry, this just adds more options. But sure, that merits dissolves between sawing and shredding. Maybe someone in marketing heard “shredding” and “axe” and got the wrong end of the stick. Out today, the Rottne DLC adds the Swedish manufacturer’s H21D wood harvester and F20D wood forwarder....

Mandate starts in 182CE, shortly before the Yellow Turban Rebellion kicks off. That lot are a playable faction in another DLC, but this is more about the story of that event. New factions for the Han and Yellow Turbans are in for this, with new resources and units and such. Several existing characters get new unique starting positions and missions too, reflecting their situations at the time. Total War campaigns in different time periods tend to be separate to the regular story, so it is nice to see this follow more along the lines of Crusader Kings-y expansions which create new start times with new history....
It’s a free-roaming space game about exploring, trading, fighting, and doing questy things. But instead of copying Elite wholesale, it merely borrows some parts, and combines them with a classic roguelike framework, and lovingly paints the result with a huge dose of Star Trek. If your eyebrows just did a thing, I’d be very surprised if you don’t enjoy it.
That trailer doesn’t really show anything, but there’s more to read on the Steam page. Tron: Identity is a visual novel set on a new Grid - the world’s explored in the Tron movies - in which “an unprecedented crime has been committed.” You’re investing that crime by talking and asking questions, and via “Identity Disc puzzles”. If you don’t remember your Tron deep lore, identity discs are the back-mounted frisbees which contain the personalities, code, and everything else of programs....

Cities Skylines infamously launched with Chirper, a legally-distinct blue bird that keeps you updated through your citizens’ inane “chirps”. People hated it, so Colossal Order kept it in. Respectable. Here, it’s Spitter, and the state is just as keen on posting as its populace. In a, uh, blunt nod to certain political figures, your President is terminally online, rubbing digital shoulders with the stars and screaming inane thoughts at their resentful followers....
Ubisoft announced today that their own part of the show, Ubisoft Forward, would take place June 12th at 8pm BST/3pm EST/12pm PST, with more details on Rainbow Six Quarantine, Far Cry 6 and Riders Republic. Perhaps I should be interested in a new mainline Rainbow Six game, or a second chance to glimpse Far Cry 6’s macarena gun, but it’s Riders Republic that interests me most. It’s an extreme sports racing game with events that combine biking, gliding, snowboarding and more....
Each location across the trash future cityscape of Tauranga Aotearoa - whether a vibrant rooftop hangout or winding urban labyrinth - tasks you with a list of shots to take before making a delivery and moving onto the next stage. Sometimes they’ll specify certain lenses or close-ups, but how you take these shots is largely up to you - with bonuses for filling your quota within a time limit, or simply for snapping a nice pic of your mates....
