It’s a great game, but playing by myself makes me miserable far more often than it makes me happy. That misery comes in two flavours. I’ll quickly cover misery-lite, because it’s simple: playing against people who are better than you sucks. That can be true of anything, but it particularly sucks here, where it often feels like your murderers murdered you simply because they had better and faster aim. Getting clever with abilities can only help you so much, as the winner of most shootouts will still be whoever can shoot sharpest....

There are five tiers for skins in Valorant - Select, Deluxe, Premium, Ultra, and Exclusive. The Elderflame skins are part of the very first Ultra Edition set, with each skin costing 2475 VP (Valorant Points). Now, if you want to buy just one skin, the lowest amount of VP you can buy to afford one is 3650 for $35 over in the US, or 4000 for £35 here in the UK....

Clearly Bloodhunt is not Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, and it’s a million miles from the original Bloodlines’ deeply RPG approach to firearms. It’s a fast, acrobatic third-person shooter, so does feel much better on high frame rates than if you were chugging along at 30fps. That said, Bloodhunt doesn’t crave the latest and best graphics cards, nor one of the best CPUs for gaming: as is often the way with free-to-play games, it can run well on older, slower hardware, even on its higher quality settings....

The singleplayer campaign will switch between goodie and baddie perspectives, with pilots in the New Republic’s Vanguard Squadron and the Empire’s Titan Squadron. On the multiplayer front, it’ll offer 5v5 battles to smash the opposing flagship in Fleet Battles mode as well as team deathmatch in plain ol’ Dogfights mode. Then it has persistent progression to unlock new weapons, hulls, engines, and shields, plus cosmetics. EA say rewards and bonuses “are earned solely through gameplay” so they might have actually learned from Battlefront 2’s loot box hell....

We had a pretty rough time with We Happy Few at release, although many of its bugs were later polished away. It’s certainly striking to look at, and the kind of game that you might be better playing on a subscription service you already pay for than buying specifically. Alas, while developers Compulsion Games are now Microsoft owned, We Happy Few was developed in partnership with Gearbox Publishing, an Embracer joint, and so is not controlled by Microsoft....

True to expectations, then, after Twarhammer 2 spread the map westwards to the lizards-’n’-elves carnage of pretend South America, this time we’re going to be headed East, to the region of Warhammer’s Old World setting centred around pretend China, aka Cathay, and pretend Russia, aka Kislev. I think the initial faction lineup is interesting, though not without disappointments. Of the six present on launch, four are the great powers of Chaos - Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Khorne - and they’re no real surprise....

Programmable party members Mastering chokepoints, positioning, and synergies is a fun enough combat puzzle in the Dragon Age games, but what gave me the most satisfaction was mastering Tactics. Tactics lets you program the behaviour of your party members, giving them a flowchart of “if X, then do Y” conditions and reactions. Pop these buffs at the start of combat, cast this spell or pull out a knife if an enemy gets close, heal friends when they get low… you can get pretty intricate, laying out a long line of instructions covering most likely scenarios....

Update: Yep, Burning Crusade Classic and Chains Of Domination are now official. On Blizzard’s very own press portal, users discovered press releases for WoW: Burning Crusade Classic and WoW: Shadowland’s upcoming 9.1 patch, Chains Of Domination had gone live ahead of BlizzCon. They’ve since been taken down, but that hasn’t stopped them appearing on sites like Wowhead. Burning Crusade Classic will let players experience the first expansion as it was when it originally launched back in 2007....

Here’s a brief trailer of it in action: I played a bunch of Carmageddon back when it was first released, or at least its demo. I liked it at the time not for the ability to make zombies (or robots) go pop, but for Bleak City, which felt as close to an open 3D world to drive around as I’d seen at that point. WWE 2K22 is made by Visual Concepts, who had assisted primary developers Yuke’s for several years before taking over with 2K20. That was not a good game. While a lot of initial attention went to wacky physics glitches because they’re hilarious, over a year later players are still reporting issues with crashes, bad controls, multiplayers server troubles, and more.
