Developed by Nifflas (aka Nicklas Nygren), and published by Triple Topping, Ynglet launched shortly before Saturday’s Guerrilla Collective indie game showcase kicked off as a little surprise. Despite being a platformer, it doesn’t actually have any typical platforms. The devs say Ynglet is like a “space dolphin”, who uses the different bubbles and shapes in the environment to zoom and leap through. It all looks very minimalistic, which I adore....

In the end, after an impromptu viewing of the 90s western film Tombstone, I decided to opt for the very manageable mission chunks of Desperados 3 as my big Easter holiday project, which is the latest rootin’ tootin’ real-time tactics game from the Shadow Tactics devs, Mimimi Productions. I’d played the opening few missions back when it came out last summer, but its long, sprawling maps gradually demanded more time and dedication than I was able to give them....

As of its latest update, there’s now a new customisable game mode that lets you make your expeditions even more relaxed - or much harder. Training Expeditions is “a customizable game mode, where you can freely choose your starting conditions and adjust game settings to your liking,” according to the developer update on Steam. Those game settings include the biome, the three playable species, your starting resources, the difficulty levels, bonuses and modifiers, the win condition, and the Impatience threshold....

I’m asking it again right now. Football Manager 2022 will release on November 9th, and Sports Interactive have announced that this year it’ll also be available on day one via Xbox Game Pass. Demons Happened is a curious blend of very rapid action faintly reminiscent of Hotline Miami, and an Abe’s Oddysee type of puzzle game. Such disparate genres don’t often blend as well as this, and I’m disappointed that it hasn’t got a bigger reception.

Like the first game, Darkest Dungeon 2 has you journeying through Lovecraftian dungeons, tackling tough turn-based combat, and managing an increasingly fragile group of heroes. But, this time you’re on the road. The game has recieved a ton of updates during early access including new characters and an overhauled progression system. The Affinity System is another interesting, new feature that affects the interpersonal connections between your party. A hero’s emotional state can influence their relationship with others in the party, creating useful buffs or hindering debuffs....
