There are several good gets coming to Game Pass before this month is out, including a few that are showing up on their respective launch dates. EA’s dodgeball brawler Knockout City is entering Game Pass on May 21st, for one. The online team-based dodgeball game looks pretty swell based on Ed’s Knockout City preview from earlier this year. It’s also free to play for ten days at launch, so you can hop in on that one whether or not you’ve got Game Pass....
Still, the sincerity and scenery-chewing of its characters will get me through this mammoth task quite easily, I think. It’ll have to, because we’re still very much in cutscene city at the moment. After a “hmmm” and a slight pause, he answered the question with a slight grin on his face. After a second or two, the translator cackled uncontrollably and I, too, started laughing at him laughing. Eventually, everyone regained their composure and Sakamoto’s answer was unraveled....

I didn’t dig the cartoonish visual style of the remasters in marketing screenshots and trailers, but I was not prepared for quite how ugly and inept it seems in reality. The internet is awash with screenshots and clips pointing out ugly character art, obvious typos, wacky bugs, excessive effects, and animations which question our understanding of the human skeleton. And yep, I’m game for more fisticuffs from Sloclap. Our boy Brendy called Absolver one of the best fighting games and it is, it’s good. Yes, attempting to name your character Jeff Bezos is neither the height of comedy nor creativity, I know. This is a world that voted for Boaty McBoatface, so it was bound to happen, really. Here he is, the one and only “JeffrieBezos” Does he look like Jeff Bezos? He is bald. That’s about as much specificity about Jeff Bezos’s appearance I can conjur offhand. This is a bit interesting though, as our James actually did try to name his character several different permutations on Jeff’s name....
In a statement on their corpo blog, Microsoft said the research partnership would focus on three main areas: supercomputing at scale, the cloud, and “new AI-powered experiences”. That last one’s relevant to us, because Microsoft are planning to use OpenAI’s tech in their consumer products. Whether that means Microsoft’s Windows software or their Xbox and PC games hasn’t been discussed publicly yet, but it’s possible that advances in responsive AI or asset generation could be incorporated into both further down the line....
Two new game modes debut in the Knights Of The Mediterranean DLC. ‘Tycoon’ is the new, aforementioned ‘casual-friendly’ mode that emphasises landing economic success for your empire over a combat victory. The devs say it’ll stop players worrying about having to “bolster armies or defend against full-scale sieges”. The other new mode is ‘Diplomacy’, which lets empires swap allegiances in multiplayer and sounds bloody cool to me. Also coming with The Knights Of The Mediterranean DLC are ‘historical maps’ – randomly generated maps that are themed around conflicts such as the Napoleonic Wars....

The 2015 entry to the Assassin’s Creed series, Syndicate, is up first, thrusting you into the shoes of twin assassins Jacob and Evie Frye, as you traverse Victorian London on a mission for none-other than Charles Dickens. Adam Smith prefaced his Assassin’s Creed Syndicate review by saying it may well be his favourite Assassin’s Creed game, which is saying something considering he goes on to criticise it a fair bit....

Like most of Valhalla’s quests, the Paris expansion will involve forming alliances, finding enemy secrets, and plenty of sieging. The game is also bringing back infiltration missions, which essentially drop you into a quest with no instructions on how to complete your goal. There’s no exact release date, but it’s coming out this summer. For those of you who enjoy the historic aspects of Assassin’s Creed, rather than the killing, Ubi are releasing something called the Viking Age Discovery Tour....
“Set in Francia, this new adventure will set Eivor on a dangerous path full of gripping questlines across the Frankish countryside, towards one of the most infamous conquest battles in Viking history,” Ubisoft say. You can catch just a bit of it here in Ubisoft’s new trailer, following those festival details. The new expansion adds new weapons, gear, and enemy types for your raids in Francia. The Siege Of Paris will also be bringing back Infiltration Missions, descended from the series Black Box Missions which drop you into a quest and let you figure out on your own how to find and kill your target....
“When investigating the implementation of New Game+, we realized that the depth of the game gave us limited options to make replayability unique and rewarding,” the game’s devs said in a blog post. Although it’s a disappointment that there won’t be any New Game Plus, the part I’m most excited about is that the update will finally let you keep your hood up all the time. It even works if you unequip Eivor’s cloak....
Now, I ain’t saying NZXT fully lost their way. Cases like the H500 and H510 are fine mid-towers; I even requested the latter to house the main RPS testing rig. But even with comparable specs, no airflow downgrade worth mentioning, and the addition of tempered glass windows, they’re just not as nice, y’know? The metalwork, especially, is thinner and less tactile, something I’m always noticing whether I’m pressing the power button or swapping out the parts within....
Developed by Mundfish, I’m still not entirely sure what Atomic Heart is actually about yet. I know it has some very pretty ray tracing effects and that you’ll be fighting a lot of creepy looking machines with a combination of some very neat looking guns and zappy telekinetic powers - and now those free-wheeling foes have added lipstick, it would appear. The new trailer does reveal that you’ll have a very cute little spider pal,though, which will presumably aid you in hacking objects, and fingers crossed you’ll also be able to enlist him to hack your robotic foes to take advantage of their powers....
