Iron Gate and Microsoft first announced that Valheim would arrive on Game Pass back during Not-E3 in June. If you’ve got an Xbox or know someone who does then they’ll be able to play it from some time in early 2023 too, and there’ll be crossplay between the console and PC versions. Iron Gate say that Steam and players using Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass will be able to play together too....

The post over on Steam begins by talking about user stats over the past seven years, then hard pivots. “Unfortunately, we regretfully announce the immediate closure of the servers and will be unlisting the Steam Release, Google Play Store, and the Apple App Store from Today, the 19th of October, 2022.” “For Game Preservation, Offline mode will still work for prior installs,” it adds. Confusingly, there appears to be an identical announcement on the Regicide website, except that one says the servers were closed and Regicide delisted on “Today, the 14th of October, 2022....

The game’s Reinforcements update adds a bunch: night time variants of all maps, homing rockets, a new anti-vehicle turret, new enemies including a minigun-wielding boss, and three new maps. As early access releases go, Warpips wasn’t light on content to begin with, and only intends to be 6 months before hitting final release. Alongside the update, developers Skirmish Mode put out a roadmap for future additions to come. It includes more items, helicopters, and eventually new game modes....

Spearheaded by the individual behind the Wholesome Games Twitter account, Wholesome Direct has got a pretty solid list of names joining up to deliver their happy announcements. “Please look forward to exclusive footage and announcements from games like Ooblets, Spiritfarer, SkateBird, Little Witch In The Woods, Garden Story, Chicory, Rainy Season, and many more,” say they. Apparently the full list is more than 50 games, though I’m sure the size of announcements and involvement will vary....

That’s what EVE Anywhere does. Lauched today, it lets you play EVE Online in your browser by streaming it from the cloud, as long as your internet connection is fast enough to handle it. EVE Anywhere will work in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, and on both PC and tablet. CCP recommend a connection speed of 25Mbps or higher, and it’s only currently available in the United States and (most of) Europe....
The secret was posted in the Flight Simulator subreddit by HughesMDflyer4, who provided instructions on how to find it. You’ll need to choose a Diamond DA62 to fly, and flick the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) on the plane’s dashboard to on. The original Flight Simulator from 1982 should appear, although you can move between games in the long-running series by selecting at the top of the little screen. I wouldn’t recommend trying to play the game while you’re airborne, but I’m sure some enterprising speedrunners out there are already trying to pilot both planes at the same time....

Zak McKracken And The Alien Mindbenders is… it’s really terrible. Like, beyond belief awful. Oh no. The Lucasfilm Games adventure first came out for Commodore 64 in 1988, then for Atari ST - on which I first played it - in 1989. So I would have been 11 years old. I’m pretty sure I’ve never played it in the intervening 31 years. I’m not entirely sure why I entered this with so much confidence of being right....
