Valve engineer Pierre Loup-Griffais, who also recently spoke to us about the Steam Deck, revealed on Twitter the work being done to smooth out Elden Ring’s stuttering problem. It comes via an update to Proton, the compatibility software that Valve co-develops to make Windows games run on Linux-based operating systems – including the Deck’s SteamOS. The update is due out sometime this week, but is already available on the ‘Bleeding Edge’ beta branch of Proton Experimental, which is available to anyone....

PUBG did attempt an old TDM mode back in 2018 as part of an event, but this time it looks like the mode might stick around a bit longer. It’s one of the first of a few rotating game modes that’ll be available in the Arcade, though we don’t know what the others will be just yet. In my hands-on with Rainbow: Six Extraction, I got to sample several of the game’s early missions with two other journos. No single-player allowed, but for the most part, Ubisoft let us run amok in this zombie-riddled land. A total of 12 Operators were ours to test out and we’d earn EXP to see how progression worked. That’s of course when we actually earned EXP. Our ragtag crew wasn’t quite prepared for how challenging this game could be....

Ubisoft recently updated their kill list to announce they’re ending online services for Rainbow Six Vegas, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Rainbow Six: Lockdown, and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier from the vague effective date of “2021”. That means no online multiplayer or other features which rely on Ubi servers, though the rest should be fine. The company tend to announce server shutdowns months in advance but while these games were only added to that list this month (an archived page shows they weren’t there on March 30th, at least), another list says they have already shut down....
