Now the project has been shut down by Riot. As before, Rogue Legacy 2 follows a family of clanking, armoured dungeon-delvers. It flaunting a more painterly look this time round, but sending your grandkids into spike-filled pits for treasure? That’s timeless. Right now, Rogue Legacy 2 contains a “complete game loop” - fire it up, select a lineage, explore a town hub and go dungeon-crawling in the castle. There are only 1-and-a-half biomes to raid, four character classes, over 700 rooms and one big bad boss to take down in the game as-is....

I’m not wild about Rust, but I adore the idea of sitting in an armchair with brandy, a cat, and a button that sends the peasant rabble plunging to their deaths. The “official companion app” is called Rust+, and yep, I’ve already covered pretty much everything it does: chatting, tracking, and trapping....

Itta is a top-down bullet hell shooter about a vengeful young girl fighting a series of cosmic monsters with a revolver, and a ghost cat. It’s due out later this year, and below is a taste of its rather expressive style. I did chuckle a bit when she whipped out that revolver. Neither bullet hell or boss rushes are my thing at all, especially in a world where so many real bosses deserve a solid kicking, but I can’t deny I like the look of this one....

That’s a well put together trailer, isn’t it? Sets the scene, escalates in pace and action, and highlights some of the finer details of its systems. I like that meaty shotgun which seems to blast enemies into bits, I’m interested in the ability to use the environment to crush enemies, and I dig the look of those bubble traps. If you die in Sentry, you can respawn in the body of a new crewmate and rejoin the fight, but you’ll fail the mission if the aliens overrun that part of the ship....

The replay editor has been on Sifu’s roadmap for a while, but developers Sloclap showed it off for the first time this week: The editor looks like the photo modes and replay editors we’ve become used to in other games. It includes a timeline along the button of the screen where you can scrub along and see where you’ve made your edits at a glance. I used to love machinima, and a substantial part of the appeal of the Kung Fu mod for Max Payne, for example, was watching the videos people made using it....
