1.3’s new challenge stage is called Bat Country and, as you’d expect, there are swarms of bats in the trailer. The most satisfying enemies to squash in VS are the small, weak ones, so I’m happy. The first new relic is called Charm and it increases enemies’ spawn quantity by 20 per rank (up to a maximum of 100.) The other relic is perhaps more exciting, as it lets us transform one of our playable characters....
Vampire Survivors is an arcade-style survivathon about weaving through fields of enemies as your weapons automatically obliterate the oncoming hordes. It’s still about collecting upgrades until you’re the locus of an unstoppable death machine, and now that it’s left early access that death machine comes in more colours and more flavours. There are new maps to conquer, new characters to conquer with, and new secrets to uncover. If you haven’t played since the early access launch then yes, it’s worth checking out the new stuff....

I am very here for magic spells which make someone’s head pop clean off their shoulders. And yup, that’s a ragtag group of warriors ganging together to grind myriad monsters into mush with melee and ranged weapons. It looks like Vermintide in 40K and that’s cool. I am very okay with that. I am hoping for less of Vermintide 2’s boring persistent progression and crafting that dogged Vermintide, or at least a more interesting take on it, but that’s some good violence alright....

This isn’t much of a surprise. Legion was released in October 2020 and, after some delays, (almost) all of its post-launch roadmap has been fulfilled. I’ve seen grumbles online that a proposed “New Game+” mode never materialised, although it seems like the more challenging “Resistance mode” is that in spirit. Watch Dogs has never been the most popular online game, not helped by Legion’s online modes being delayed after the initial release....

Earthblood sees you play as an eco-terrorist werewolf tasked with protecting and saving mother Earth. An eco-terrorist werewolf. Sorry, just letting that one really sink into my brain. As you can probably tell from the trailer, combat revolves around you playing in your hulking werewolf form, using your rippling wolf biceps to rip and tear through anyone in your way. Sometimes you’ll need to be in human form, however, to interact with other characters and do all the human things, others you’ll become a normal wolf, allowing you to stealthily explore....
Pre-boss battle supply cache You enter an area overflowing with ammo boxes and medkits and and potions and armour shards and elite units for your squad and grenades and a full supply of corpses to reanimate and power-ups and heavy weapons and oh, you know: something big is about to happen. A boss battle is coming, and I am now so ready for it. It’s always exciting to find this room....
This most recently came up for me in The Forgotten City, a game which has no stats but offers handy little perks depending on a conversation choice where you tell someone you were in life. A fugitive can run faster; an amnesiac somehow takes less damage in combat; a soldier starts with a pistol and ten bullets (far deadlier than the bow and arrow others can find); and an archaeologist has extra insight in conversations and can read some inscriptions....
