I wouldn’t be half so childish if the developers hadn’t already made a fortune from pre-orders, or if Genesis wasn’t so bloatedly overpriced. I’d be reasonable, even, if it seemed they had attempted something beautiful and ambitious here and fallen short. But they haven’t. After hyping Genesis to high heaven, they’ve released an expansion that manages to negate everything that conceivably made it possible to call ARK a flawed masterpiece, while retaining every iota of the game-busting jank that made it feel like a shoddy, never-ending beta test....

The photos originate from a book of photographs of textures released in 1996 by Judy A. Juracek. The book came with a CD containing the images, which people could license to use for commercial purposes. Juracek alleges that her images are used throughout many Capcom games, but that the company did not purchase a license to use them. Once that’s installed, the whole game will take up 77GB, and Ubisoft say you’ll be saving 34GB....

Battlefield 2042 Update 4.0 is implementing party and squad VoIP along with a bunch of balance adjustments to specialists and vehicles, plus plenty of fixes. Ribbons and XP events have been made easier to unlock, and there’s the addition of a scoreboard at the end of rounds that was promised with update 3.3 last month. Among the more noticeable improvements should be weapon attachments. EA DICE say these tweaks will make individual attachments feel more distinct from one another....

As ya do with battle royale games, Spellbreak tosses you on a map where you’ll fight it out against other players to be the last mage standing. Each player chooses an elemental class, gaining more combat skills as the match progresses. A shrinking safe zone surrounded by the Spellstorm forces players closer together all while they search for better gear stashed around the map. Pretty familiar, then, except everyone’s basically Avatar Aang hurling elements at one another....
