The fastest car I’ve driven is a Ford Fusion in a nice shade of orange and with a conveniently placed AUX cable slot. So in hindsight, jumping into WRC 9, a rally game meant for rally-heads who know how to skid elegantly on dirt, was maybe too much for me....

The Konami Memorial NFT will open with a collection of 14 items on Opensea, auctioning one-of-a-kind NFTs for video clips, music, artwork, and such from early Castlevania games. From Wednesday the 12th of January through the 14th, they will auction them off, with payment in Ethereum (a cryptocurrency you can mine or, more likely, buy with real currency). Mining Ethereum burns less energy than Bitcoin but yup, it’s still one of those crypocurrencies ultimately created through thousands of GeForces and giant electricity bills....
Much like the Dragon Age 4 images from EA Play Live, in typical BioWare fashion, this new ME pic doesn’t give us much. But I think we can make out one very important detail: the species of these figures. On the far right there, we can see a salarian. That one’s easy, they have very distinct heads with curved in little horns on them. The being next to them could well be human, but on closer inspection looks very much like a drell....
Turns out, it’s probably not a problem with your hardware at all. It’s because of your motherboard’s BIOS settings. According to The Verge’s Tom Warren, you’ll need to have Secure Boot enabled in your motherboard BIOS, and have one with a TPM 2.0 chip (that’s Trusted Platform Module, in case you’re unfamiliar). Indeed, a TPM 2.0 chip is part of Windows 11’s minimum hardware requirements, and it’s related to lots of different security functions....

We got our first look at The Wandering Village’s unusual approach to the city-building genre in March last year. You’ll need to foster the development of a community on the back of Onbu, a huge creature who you’ll have to make friends with to help manage what it does. There’s the standard building construction and resource management you’d expect from any city-builder, but devs Stray Fawn say that The Wandering Village has roguelike and survival aspects to boot....
As before, so it goes - The Jackbox Party Pack returns with 5 new games, each playable on any device that lets you plug into the internet and draw on its screen. Headlining the pack is Quiplash 3, the third iteration of the fan-favourite prompt-driven punchline generator that arrives in a soft, claymation flavour this year. The standout, however, looks to be draw ’em up fighting game Champ’d Up. Akin to something like Superfight, it looks like you’ll each draw your own fighter and then be paired up in different arenas, with the rest of the party voting on who they think would come out on top....
RPS’s Jurassic World Evolution review says that the management and customisation are a bit of a disappointment, but the dinos are a bright spot. A T.Rex won’t tolerate other dinos sharing their enclosure, even another T.Rex. The Diplodocus, meanwhile, enjoys having pals around and doesn’t mind coexisting with other small dinos. Hopping into a car or helicopter to check them out seems like one of the game’s highlights. “The quality and range of animation is exceptional, especially in a management sim where you’re mostly getting a bird’s eye view,” Fraser Brown says....
Oh, we do love a bit of Killing Floor 2, don’t we? Tripwire Interactive’s gory horde ’em up is still one of our favourite co-op games on PC, a proper grindhouse horde mode that has you beasting your way through all manner of zombies, mutants, and cyborg tyrants. While it’s getting on a bit, the devs are still keeping the game updated with new events like last month’s tropical romp Perilous Plunder....

Last Oasis has suffered connection issues since Thursday’s launch, and its support Twitter account lists the fixes and fiddlings they’d tried to get it going. This video detailed the big issue, a problem with the master server that stopped players from connecting. Enough problems persisted that serious action was needed. The developers, Donkey Crew said in Sunday night’s announcement that they “decided to take all servers offline to give our engineers time to investigate without new pressure for about 7 days....
Haugen is a writer and photographer who hoped to make a feature film called November Renaissance, and who successfully Kickstarted a short film of the same name in 2017. Around this time he hired actress Alex Zedra to portray ‘Cade Janus’, a character intended for the movie, and took a series of photographs of her in that role. Haugen’s lawsuit, as reported by TorrentFreak, alleges that those photos of Cade Janus were placed on “the wall of the studio” while Infinity Ward created the character of Mara for Modern Warfare....
GamesIndustry.biz report that the lawsuit filed in California by three people revolves around Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment. This patented technology, helpfully described in a 2017 paper from EA, would be able to silently adjust a game’s difficulty to keep players engaged and prevent them from becoming bored or frustrated. It’d make sense for some games. The trouble started when some players started suspecting that EA have applied this system to Fifa, NHL, and Madden, and that they use it to boost loot box sales in Ultimate Team modes....
It’s been in development for a while, and has been delayed several times, allegedly resulting in extensive crunch. It’s finally coming out on April 5th, but having played about an hour of Episode IV, this is not the Lego Star Wars-ing I remember. The plots are the same, of course, but much of its mindless minifig bashing has now been swapped for… over-the-shoulder third-person shooting? I feel a great disturbance in the Force....

In the UK, it’s also available in a cheaper Core i5-10300H / GTX 1660 Ti variant for £1300, and you’ll find Core i7 models with RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 Super Max-Q chips inside them as well for £1500 and £1800 respectively. The US has slightly different CPU and GPU combinations available for similar-ish sorts of prices, and you’ll even find a Core i9, 240Hz model for a cool $3000-odd if you happen to have a spare mattress’ worth of cash knocking around....
Like God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is based on the touched-up PS5 version of a PS4 original, with further tweaks to make it look and play like a proper PC game. So besides the graphics stuff there’s also mouse and keyboard support, Steam/Epic Store achievements and the like. It’s even earned Verified status on the Steam Deck, though we’ll be focusing on desktop performance here; Liam, possibly with an eye on stealing my job and identity, has already checked out Deck performance specifically....
Despite appearances, it’s quite mildly roguelike, and those of you who dig a complex strategic challenge or skin of your teeth type survival story aren’t quite the right audience. This one is a more forgiving affair, and yet not easy or simply enough that I ever got bored. It’s a good time.
But, as you’ve probably now had time to process, both of those ideas are completely amazing. And so, to my surprise and delight, is Minecraft Dungeons. I’ve had a good play with the beta build ahead of its postponed launch on May 26th, and what I’ve found is an extremely slick, extremely pretty dopamine delivery system, that somehow strings together the best of two seemingly disparate worlds. “Complex but not complicated,” is how executive producer David Nisshagen describes the game as I watch him play it, before quietly chiding himself....
