The hack would’ve involved a Steam user changing their account email address to include the phrase “amount100”, before adding a little bit of money to their Wallet using a method that goes through the Smart2Pay payment system. This exploit would then let the hacker intercept the request being sent to Smart2Pay’s servers, allowing them to alter how much money they were actually adding. So if they just paid $1, they’d be able to turn that into $100 instead....

They’ve been teasing for a while that “the end is near”, with something happening in Warzone at 8pm (noon Pacific) on Wednesday, April 21st. A Season Three blog post last night explained that the new season will start on April 22nd, following a Warzone patch due to hit at at 9pm Pacific on the 21st (that’s 5am Thursday for us). Many players assume that the Warzone season finale will involve nukes, given that zombies are rampaging across the island, missile silos have been opening, and, uh, possibly due to a bug, missiles have already been seen falling: An 80s overhaul for the island is expected too....

I don’t think there’s a space king in this one, but you do play as a sad little cube called Mayor who wants to make some new pals. All the objects you befriend have different abilities or qualities. The giant mouth eats foods and turns them into poop, somehow. Poop plus waffle cone equals an ice cream cone, somehow....
The upcoming stream is going to cover the action and some new maps, which I’m very keen to see. I’ve played the current roster of maps so much that I’m starting to grow ever so slightly weary of them (apart from Ilios’s Lighthouse and Well maps, and Lijiang Tower’s Night Market and Garden maps, which are my favourite Lucio boop spots). I need new spots to boop, and more places to plant Symmetra’s turrets....

Rocket jumping Quake’s rocket jumping is my favourite unintended consequence in video games. It’s a simple one: take out a rocket launcher, look down at your feet, jump, shoot, and be launched to dizzying heights by the force of the explosion acting on your airborne body. Hurts, sure, but it’s handy. While earlier games did feature forms of rocket jumping, Id Software leaned into its discovery in Quake, turning it into a defining feature of the game....
