Silent Hill Director Reveals Horror Game Slitterhead

I really, really like how that final shot isn’t about horrors emerging from a normal-looking person, it’s something terrible slithering away to hide inside a normal-looking person. Now that’s horror, baby. As for what it actually is, well, you’d assume more action-y than straight survival horror. What with all the dramatic jumps and bloodknifemurder. A mystery for now. Bokeh Game Studio are led by Keiichiro Toyama, who was director of the first Silent Hill and directed the early Siren games too....

Skyrim Mod Adds Hidden Keys To Find For All Those Locked Chests

Modder “JaySerpa” released the mod, named Locked Chests Have Keys, on Monday. It adds keys to open “the majority” of chests in Skyrim (around 300 of them), all hidden nearby in nooks and crannies and under objects and behind trinkets and inside buckets and… they’re certainly hidden. Sadly I only have regular Skyrim, not the Special Edition this requires, so I haven’t played the mod myself but the keys I have seen in videos are nice little object hunts....

Slice Of Life Sim The Garden Path Looks Lovely

Spacebase Startopia Preview

If you’re a Startopia fan, Spacebase Startopia feels like an off-brand version of the original. When you first start, everything seems very similar to, and yet slightly different from, how it was when you played before, as if you’ve gone into Aldi and bought a box of CHOCO WEETIES CEREAL HOOPS. You have a sarky AI, but it has a feminine robot voice. Communications arrays on your space station used to be manned by Targs, squat little beetles with spacesuits; they’re now run by Bugs, squat little beetles without spacesuits....

Spelunky 2 Daily Well It Could Have Been Worse

Today’s apology: I’m sorry for the loud groan I do when I get hit by a snake. At least I said “what the heck” instead of cursing up a storm, eh? If you want to see what actual skill looks like, reader Vi By Five shared their own video from October 12th in which they reached deep into world six. The video contains parts of the game I’ve never seen before, so bear in mind there might be some spoilers for you, also....

Spelunky 2 Mod Overlunky Lets You Zoom Out And Blow Up Every Level

Here’s a video of it in action: If there are things in Spelunky 2 you’d like to see, but you lack the skill and perseverence necessary to get there, then this might be one way you can experience it for yourself. You can spawn all the crowns, for example, gift yourself a shower of rubies, or simply plop down a doorway to a later world you’ve never reached. Or you could just wreak vengeance for every petty death the game has ever inflicted upon you by simply blowing up every level....

Star Citizen Dev Assures It Is Not A Pipe Dream

Roberts’ first lengthy response to this player, who’s known as “Camural” on the forum, said that they have parts of the system running but it’s a complex thing. They “need to literally ‘plumb’ the ships with a set of extra components”, he explained, so for efficiency they’re saving it until they revisit a load of systemic ship features at once. “I am very invested in making Star Citizen’s gameplay as systemic as possible as I think this will open up so many possibilities of emergent and immersive gameplay,” Roberts said, after detailing a complex example of how one single stray bullet might interact with atmosphere, damage, fire and other systems to create an escalating disaster for several players to carefully tackle....

Star Citizen S Cloud City Is The Final Port Of Call For The Game S Single Solar System

I downloaded the patch a couple of days after it went live and loaded into the new world. Orison sprawls across floating platforms in fluffy pink clouds. I took in the new volumetric cloud tech, swirling between the connected city’s districts, before trying to find my ship, which is where the fun started to break down. The floating platforms are huge and full of buildings. Bars, shops, facilities all got in the way as I looked around, trying to find my ship....

Stardew Valley Expanded Gets A New Farm Too

On the day that Stardew Update 1.5 came out, developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone mentioned that some modders had been given early access to the update so they could have their mods updated to work with the new version immediately. SVE was one of them, getting its own update (1.12) on the same day. I spent the holiday churning through the new endgame bits in standard Stardew with my co-op partner of choice, so now it’s time to think about returning to my favorite staple mods....

Stop A Disease In Plague Inc S Upcoming New Mode

Ndemic announced that they have made a $250,000 donation to the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. They say that in talking with both organisations to set up these donations, they “were repeatedly asked if we could make a game which let the player work to stop an outbreak.” So they are. Unlike in Plague Inc’s standard mode where players design and upgrade an infectious disease to maximize its spread, the new update will be just the opposite....

You immediately fixate on saving this woman, and set about doing so in a point ’n’ click puzzle fashion. And if you’ve seen any prestige horror films in the last few years, or even just engaged with any horror tropes before, you’ll figure out what Strangeland’s deal is in about 30 seconds....

Strategic Mind Fight For Freedom Treads Old Ground With Comfortable Boots

The Western front is frankly overdone in any media, not just games, and I’ll admit I was hesitant. How many times have you run around Normandy with tanks and paratroopers? How many Cockneys and Ohio farmboys have you heard yelling about bunkers and stukas, versus exactly zero Australians or Kenyans or the literally millions of Indian soldiers propping us up? I’m not even talking about this in a political sense....

Subnautica Below Zero Has Left Early Access

Below Zero takes place on the same planet as the first game, but you play as a new scientist swapping out the tropical waters for a much chillier climate. Unsurprisingly, your arrival to this frosty area is met with disaster, and you’ll need to craft and build to survive. If you’re looking to take your first leap into Subnautica, Brendy reckons the first game is a better starting point. Below Zero is still fab though, and he’d rather you play this one than not play any Subnautica at all....

Super Mario 64 S Fan Pc Port Attacked By Nintendo Lawyers

This fan-made PC port requires you to provide a ROM of the N64 game, with the PC port coming distributed as an executable or source code you can compile yourself. Supposedly it’s built on community efforts to decompile and reverse-engineering the original. Mario 64 has been unofficially on PC for years through emulators but not having to process the game through an emulator means the DirectX 12 version could reportedly run faster and smoother with less input lag, as well as with easy support for 4k and ultrawide resolutions....

Surely Sony Will Bring More Playstation Exclusives To Pc

We mentioned these hints yesterday but I wanted to dig into more of what was said and the context of all this. Hermen Hulst, Sony’s new head of Worldwide Studios, revealed the PC release of Horizon on the official PlayStation Blogcast. This was his first interview since taking the position, so the future of PlayStation is a hot question and it’s extra-notable that he revealed this PC release now. And do bear in mind that he’s talking to a PlayStation audience so one of his main concerns is assuring people that the money and sense of identity they’ve invested in PlayStation is not going in the bin - it’s a situation where he’d never cheer for an end to exclusives....
