Ubisoft announced the delay on Twitter yesterday, adding that they are “working on an article to provide transparency and share insights on our dev process”. So we’ll hear more about reasons for the delay? I’m going to guess the issue is: it’s not ready yet. Ubisoft previously explained that “players will journey to Ireland and unravel the mysteries of an ancient and mysterious druidic cult, tracking and discovering their members....

The translation was worked out by folks at fan site Access The Animus, and they explain the process in the video below. In brief, there are some examples of the Isu language in-game with corresponding translations into English. From those translations, they then extrapolated rules for the language, and used that to help them decipher otherwise untranslated text that appears on items within the Collector’s Edition of the game. The translations aren’t revelatory on their own - though there’s more to come in a second video - but I found the process of it being deciphered interesting to watch....

On the serious issues side, Ubisoft mention rolling out a fix for a memory leakage issue that happens when PC players Alt+Tab to their desktop. Cloud saves are being renamed to help distinguish them from manual ones. Apparently they’ve also generally improved performance and stability of the game. Those are all well and good fixes and you can catch more of the technical stuff in the title update 1.0.4 notes....

Assuming, of course, you know how to piece together a fully-automated mining, processing, and power production setup. Released for free this week, Astroneer’s Automation Update adds half a Factorio’s worth of generators, printers and robot arms to the cutesy space sim. Automatic extractors can now be placed to perform the tedious job of mining resources for you at an accelerated rate, all without deforming the terrain. Mechanical arms can then pop these materials into new resource canister, with a whole series of buttons, repeaters and cabling available to create ever-more-elaborate pipelines....

P3 starts off making his way down through the entry to some sort of museum which quickly opens up into a massive atrium crawling critters that he’s been asked to clear out. It doesn’t take but a quick few whacks from his circular saw mace thing to dispense with the plant-based life forms before the real action begins. It’s also got an action-y soundtrack from Mick Gordon whose name you may know from his work on recent Doom games....

Ubisoft describe Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora as a “first-person, action-adventure game” playing as a Na’vi who will “embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora.” Then add that players will “explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it.” It’s being made by Massive Entertainment, the Ubisoft studio behind The Division and that mysterious open-world Star Wars game....

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 was announced for PC back in June. It’s never been officially released on the good ol’ beige box until today. Publishers Interplay have revived the Black Isle Studios name for their re-releases of the Dark Alliance series, the first of which cropped up at the tail-end of last year. Added to this remastered version are 4K support, two new secret characters, fully voiced dialogue, and support for local co-op....

Battlefield 1 is EA Dice’s confusingly-named World War 1-set shooter, and the predecessor to Battlefield V, obviously. It was: quite good. In his Battlefield 1 review, Brendy said that it was “safely good.” Brendy also had a wonderful time trying to find a nice cottage in the French countryside during the war. My interest in Battlefield has been reignited by the recent announcement of Battlefield 2042, and particularly its Portal mode....

The game officially launches on the 19th but early access started today. You can get in by buying the Gold Edition (£30 extra, includes the first season pass) or Ultimate Edition (£50 extra, includes the season pass and some cruft), or EA Play Pro subscribers can play the full game too while regular EA Play members get a ten-hour trial. Pre-ordering is naff but I can see buying the Gold Edition if you’re a fan who knows they’ll be playing no matter what....

Update #2 is live now on all platforms, and here’s the overview: They’ve also re-enabled the UAV-1 in Battlefield Portal mode, while increasing its missile damage and reducing its health regen. These are only the overviews of changes, so do see the Update 0.2.2 patch notes for specific numbers on most of those weapon changes.
